Isn't all salt originally from the ocean? If not, how does it form?
No; there is also rock salt. Have you heard of salt mines?
Old Empresario, rock salt (halite) is actually a sedimentary rock formed from dried sea beds so was also originally from the sea.

What types of salt do you use in your kitchen? I use kosher salt for most of my cooking and baking. I use various types of sea salt for seasoning stuff at the table. And I like the Real Salt brand sea salt for popcorn.
