I'm putting the cap at about 1000 before something goes terribly wrong. MAD global thermonuclear war isn't looking to probable, global warming will up the coastline and make food/water scarcer over the next 200 years but that won't end it all, viruses that transmit well don't usually kill billions of people, most wars are regional skirmishes, and beyond 400 years I can't predict anything, so 1000 the make or break. I'm thinking nano-bots are the road to complete extinction.
