Should everyone in high school and/or college be required to take at least one economics course?
I have some friends that have never taken an economics course, know little to nothing about how an economy works, but want the U.S. economic system to change. Should they first understand the theory behind the economy before wanting change?
Before understanding the economy, I think that high school and college students need to understand more about personal finance and how to manage budgets, live within their means, and learn how to save more. Also if you want the economy to change, why not provide education on entrepreneurship and how to start a small business. Once they are able to have positive personal financial management, they will be in a better position to understand on a larger scale.
Yes, a Home Economics course, so they all have some education in how to cook, grow vegetables, do simple, home carpentry, and household electrics, and how to cook real food, not junk out of a packet.
Yes, I believe it should be required. Mainly because I'm fantastic at economics.
