Do you use paper, plastic or reusable bags ?

With all the interest in recycling and waste, many people have begun using resusable bags to shop.  But some people still use paper or plastic.  zI like to use paper at times and use them as book covers.  And plastic bags are great as small garbage pail bags.  Which do you prefer and why?

I use reusable bags, most of the time.  We still have a choice, but when the choice is between paper or plastic, it is like being between a rock and hard place.

Every store in our city are required to use paper bags leaving me with no choice and I'm no complaining at all even thought they tend to tear off if you purchase heavy products. It aims to at least minimize the effects of plastic in our environment so I'm more than willing to sacrifice.

I am living proof that old dogs can learn new tricks. I carry my own reusable shopping bags everywhere I go.

Since I'm a green business advocate, we use reusable bags almost exclusively. Once in a while we'll forget to put them back in the car and need to use one or two plastic ones from the store. But then those bags are used as garbage liners.

I was surprised at how easily my husband took to using the reusables. Score for the planet!

Most reusables are recyclable (#5) where recycling facilities exist. But if you're buying printed reusable bags for promotional use, look for those with a #1 recycling category since recycling is more readily available and they are often made of recycled containers and bottles.
