How to calculate BMI?

How do you calculate BMI or body mass index?

In metric units, the formula is (weight in kg)/(height in meters)^2. In US units the formula is 703*(weight in lbs)/(height in inches)^2. A BMI beyond 25 is considered overweight.

Keep in mind it doesn't distinguish between muscle mass and fat mass, so it's not the most nuanced look at body composition and health. It's better to consider BMI along side body fat percentage to get a more realistic picture.Here is a list of useful equations
