We get bald. Is it an evolution? Down the years will man become hairless?

Monkeys had lots of hair. With passage of years, as few monkeys turned to man, we started gradually losing hair from body. And now from our heads. Is it truly an evolution or the living conditions? Can we escape from it or are we witnessing the next phase of evolution right before our eyes?

We are pretty hairless compared to early humans. Male pattern baldness is extremely common in humans now. It could be hypothesized that we would continue to get less hairy but humans have figured out how to control their environment so evolution doesn't work on us in the same way it used to.

We have the ability to make it appear we have less hair in some places (legs, pits) or more hair in some places (head) in order to attract mates. So a person might have genes for being really hairy but if they shave it all off their mate won't know the and won't/can't use that factor as criteria for a mate. This goes for adding hair too. If a man gets a transplant then his potential mate will not see him as a candidate for baldness and mate, but the genes persist.

It seems to me that not so many teenage boys are as hairy as teenagers of the 1960's and 70's.  Some of this of course is due to them shaving off the hair on legs and chest, but also something to do with diet and lack of excercise as well.

@almorr. I agree with you. Several centuries ahead I can witness humans hairless
