What do you think about sink holes popping up all over?
Do you think we just hear more about them because of the media access we have? Or do you think they are occurring more often? Or does the media just look for that "drama" effect and report on them more for shock ratings?
I think answering yes to the first and last question are probably the closest to why there seem to be more sinkholes. However, I'd have to say there are probably at least a few more because things like water lines and such are getting older and, when cities don't put the money into keeping up maintenance, you get more broken pipes and more sinkholes. The same can be said for the old abandoned coal mines which are a cause for some of the holes. People have stopped monitoring the ground and the holes open up before anyone realizes there's a problem underground.
