To paraphrase from the NASA website, magnetic tornadoes are twisted bundles of magnetic fields (on Mercury only) that are connecting the planet's magnetic field to interplanetary space.
They are magnetic eddies on steroids, driven by a large planetary magnetic field reacting with the sun's solar wind.

Rough evening and night yesterday and now tornadoes warnings are rapidly popping up again all over southern Arkansas. Temp reached upper 80's here today and it is extremely sticky outside. Weathermen are saying the atmosphere is more conducive for tornadoes this evening than yesterday.
