Is it possible to own the moon? And, if so, who owns it?

With the International Space Station used by multiple nations, if mankind were to ever establish a colony on the moon, who would be in charge? Would the moon belong to all of mankind? Or, are humans too naturally drawn into war and land ownership conflicts for this to happen?

    According to NASA Watch:

"According to the United Nations Outer Space Treaty, signed by every space-faring country, no nation can claim sovereignty over Earth's lunar satellite. 102 countries have entered into to the 1967 accord; China joined in 1983. But space law scholars debate whether the Treaty actually implicitly prohibits, or allows, private ownership on celestial bodies."

This is really an interesting question, never thought of it but somehow the greatest power on earth will be deciding party on who can actually claim ownership. I believe only the countries with major powers considers owning the moon which will bring the number to be lesser then 10.

In my personal opinion the countries who would actually claim or fight for the ownership would be, USA, Russia, China, Britain, Germany and India (if India does then Pakistan will follow). Probably Australia too .
