What should the role of technology be in education?
In our ever-changing world, there are always new technological advances. Do you think technology (computers, smartphones, etc.) should play a major role within the classroom? How do you balance when it is being used for educational purposes or personal use by the students? What do you do if certain students don't have access to technology at home?
Technology is where the future jobs will be plentiful, especially in the US where we have become a service industry.
Technology needs to be part of the education, not independent of it.
Yes, technology like computers, smart phones should be used in the classroom but limited to the class. Otherwise it is just doodling on paper with a pen.
We use these devices when we work and play. The problem is that most people use them to play even when the are at work. But that is not a new problem just a new wrinkle. People would read books, pass notes, doodle and other things not focused on the school work.
We need to add technology in the classroom, think of it like driver education. When schools had this program, people that couldn't afford a car were still able to learn to drive one. Same is true of these technology devices.

Do you believe that the growth of technology in schools will be helpful or hurtful? Will children become too dependent on websites like Google to help with their work?
