It seems from some studies of 70-100 year olds that the more optimistic, outgoing and easy going you can be, the longer you live. Even if you smoke; enjoy a hot toddy at night and eat not so healthily.

In one study performed by Live Science they found that one's personality could change anywhere from 70-100 years of age. (I bet that is because they probably get more serious or down because Lady Death is looming close by). So Live Science were saying they are not sure whether the above traits of being optimistic; easy going and outgoing were always a part of these elders lives or whether they adopted such personality traits in the change over period from 70-100 years of age.

To support those expansive feelings you need to be surrounded by a group of supportive and/or like minded people as well. It gets harder as you get older especially at that 70-100 age because that is when most of your friends tend to pass away.
