School’s out, getting out, or just about to get out all over the country. A word of advice from an old educator, father of 5 and grandfather of 8. Let your kids enjoy the summer. Play with them! Read to them! Spend time with them. Let them have time to be inventive, tell stories, to be creative, to think and to notice the world around them. Too many kids are so busy with all the “planned sports, activities and camps” that they never learn to be on their own, to figure things out without being shown and to become stronger, more inventive and creative people. If you truly feel they need some work in reading and math…ok…but make it fun, make it short, and make it with you. Then let them have a summer. A summer to watch the fireflies, play hide and seek, create games and just simply to imagine. Have a great summer with your kids!
