'A Quiet Place: Part 2'

I rewatched 'A Quiet Place' the other day and couldn't help but thinking how great of a movie it is on its own. Do we really need a sequel? I am still not quite sure what John Krasinski will do to live up to the success of 'A Quiet Place'. Like it or not- we are getting a sequel and the first official trailer dropped this morning.

So, what do we know? It looks as if this movie takes place directly after the first. The family is traveling from their safe house and out into the dangerous world.

What I liked about this trailer is that it reveals that we will get to see how this apocalypse began. All we know is from the newspaper clippings and all the writing around the basement from the first film. We see in the trailer the first interactions that this family has with these creatures. I think it would be interesting to see how they arrived and maybe where they came from. However, what intrigued me the most about the first film was the mysterious origin of these alien creatures. So, I may be a little in between on keeping it a mystery and showing us their origin.

Another thing that has intrigued me about this film is the surprising cast that is revealed in the trailer. Cillian Murphey was a surprise for me. He has become one of my favorite actors with the more movies I see fo him. When he reveals his face in the trailer, I immediately felt a rush of excitement flow through my body. We even get a glimpse of Djimon Hounsou in the trailer. He has been showing up in some of my favorite movies in the last few years so I was very excited to see him show up. The characters are still a mystery and I don't know fully what role they will play throughout the story, but I am excited to see them in this film!

Since the first film took place in this safe and quiet place where the family has a plan for everything and they know where to go and not to go, I think the premise for this film is very interesting. I am going to enjoy the continuing story of going out into the world of monsters and see how these characters react to this new environment.

There is mention of something more dangerous than the creatures that are lurking around. I wonder if this is just people who have gone crazy because of the monster apocalypse, or if there are mutated people due to these creatures. They may run into people who are crazed killers, however, I think it will be interesting to see if people have been mutated because of some virus or something. Tell me down in the comments what you think is wrong with the people!

Final Thoughts:

I still have so many questions about this film after viewing this trailer. It shows me exactly what I want to see without giving too much away. I love the tone and intensity that the trailer got across. I did not know where Krasinski could take this story after the ending of the previous film, but what I know intrigues me and I cannot wait for this film to hit theaters.

What do you think about the trailer? Did we need a sequel? Are you on the fence about the film even after the trailer? Tell me in the comments what you think and we can have a discussion about this trailer!
