About the song Like a G6 and what G6 mean

You may have heard this song being requested in a radio station or being played endlessly on MTV. Or you may have this on your favorites on Youtube. Either may, this chart topper has proved its worth week after week in billboards all around the world.

Coming out with their third studio album Free Wired, Far East Movement releases their first hit single "Like a G6.” The track  features vocals from Devin Star Tales and The Cataracs.

The song was written and produced by Niles Hollowell-Dhar, who is from The Cataracs. The songs popularity grew and grew as it  was number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks. When it was knocked of the number one spot, it quickly regained leadership.

In Billboard history, “Like a G6” is one of eight singles that returned to the number 1 spot after it was booted off by other singles. The track has also topped international tracks like United Kingdom, Thailand, and Sweden.

Although there is no clear meaning behind the song, there are some explanations that are to the point and somewhat debatable. The track meant to show the gangster subculture and the "indulgent lifestyle of jet-setters." It also imitates the party lifestyle of everyday trendsetters.

It is believed that the G6 mentioned in the song is the Gulfstream G650. It is a twin-engine business jet aircraft under development by Gulfstream Aerospace. As of now, the G650 is the company's largest and fastest business jet. It has a maximum speed of Mach 0.925. It can carry a crew of two pilots and passengers of about 11 to 18.

It was used as a reference to the chorus “Now I’m feeling so fly like a G6” to represent the high life of gangster life. Or something else in that field.
