American Idol appeared on television the first time back in 2002 and ran all of the way til 2016. Like most shows over the years their ratings began to fade with stiffer competition showing up. American Idol Winner Season 9 Lee DeWyze

American Idol season nine was won by rocker Lee DeWyze who beat out Crystal Bowersox to take home the title. Since appearing on American Idol Lee DeWyze has put out five studio albums none of which has sold particularly well.

American Idol Season 10 Winner Scotty McCreery

American Idol season ten was won by country music star Scotty McCreery who was clearly the favorite from early on in the show. Since appearing on season ten of American Idol Scotty McCreery has done very well releasing three studio albums all of which have done well

American Idol Season 15 Trent Harmon

For its final season American Idol crowned Trent Harmon as their champion. As this was the last season of the reality program there was a ton of performances by past American Idol champions including Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. Since the finale Trent Harmon has released one studio album, Trent Harmon EP, which has not been out long enough to determine how well it will sell.
