Audition and Predictions For America's Got Talent 7 - Inspire The Fire (Singing and Dancing Troupe)
The 7th season of America's Got Talent held auditions in Tampa Bay, Florida, and the one-hour broadcast of the Tampa trip was aired on Monday, May 28, 2012.
Inspire The Fire is a not-for-profit organization that creates opportunities for kids to join a singing and dancing troupe instead of being out running the streets. This isn't exactly what I call an edgy group. Their nickname of "urban Glee" is quite fitting, all the way down to the dorky sweaters.
I like the backstory and the mission of Inspire The Fire just as much as anybody else. But AGT is still a talent show, and I really didn't see much singing or dancing talent at all in this act. Like Glee, there are no interesting voices to listen to, and the dancing is just something thrown in to make the performance more interesting. But it certainly doesn't show talent.
The judges kind of pretended to really love Inspire The Fire. They aren't idiots, and certainly Howard knows this kind of cheesy act with not one good singer in it has no chance on America's Got Talent. It is trivially easy to predict that Inspire The Fire will not win America's Got Talent 7. And I frankly wouldn't want a nonprofit group winning, anyway. Is that money going to go to the performers? I don't know, but it will likely go to the organization. I'd rather see a real person or group that needs to pay bills in the real world win the money. At any rate, this is not a concern since Inspire The Fire has no chance of winning.
