Beautiful flowers - The ordinary and the exotic

Beautiful flowers -The ordinary and the exotic

Exotic or ordinary, flowers are flowers, they are beautiful and bring color and cheer to us all. My love for flowers can be traced back to my childhood, I would always be found collecting wild flowers and put them above my ears and in my hair and preening around. Colors and shapes never fail to capture my imagination.

The love and the joy you could spread by giving or receiving a bunch of flowers is something that most women can relate to (not every man can relate to that, I know). Just seeing some flowers in the room lifts up your mood. Flowers seem to say some things better than words ever do. A bunch of red roses say ‘I love you’ better than a diffident man, a bouquet of white flowers express grief better than most of us can. It is always special to give and receive a gift of flowers. When I do not feel so great a bunch of fresh flowers can do wonders for my mood.

Exotic Orchid - beautiful flowers

The rich color and the spots on the flower makes this orchid extra special. I love orchids, and the love and labour that goes into getting these orchids to bloom is akin to having your own baby. I have come to love and treasure my orchids so much, that I tend to hang around them all day, giving them so much time and attention that my children cry foul. They have some competition here!!

The cannonball flower or the Nagalinga flowers - beautiful flowers

The cannon ball flower or the Nagalinga flowers are not too common but not very rare either. These flowers get their English name from their buds which resemble cannonballs, while the flower in the vernacular mean the cobra around the Linga of Shiva. These mild and sweet smelling flowers can be seen on a huge tree, with hundreds of cannonballs hanging from its trunk. Yes, I meant that, these flowers grow directly from the trunk of the tree. This flower I captured was high up on the tree and this shot was the best I could get. A lady climbing a tree is not a pretty sight ..is it?

These adorable golden lilies always make me feel sunny and happy. Hope you feel the same way too!

The four o'clock flower or the Mirabilis jalapa grows in the gutters and ditches of India. These flowers come in any hue you fancy, but the peach and orange ribbed ones were huge, like hibiscus and looked awesome that I had to stop and picture them on my walk.

The Wedelia is a creeping evergreen perennial used as ground cover. They flower in abundance and look attractive. These plants needs to be pruned or cut back constantly, since they tend to get out of control and could become a nuisance, robbing your other plants of their muchneeded nourishment. They are generally used to border lawns and on road dividers, here where I live!

The Gerbera daisies are beautiful flowers, as photogenic as the dahlias. They come in almost all colors and now even in double shades. I am somehow unlucky with these darlings. I am determined to have some growing in my balcony by the next season ... and I will have more pictures on Hubpages.

Texas bluebells (Eustoma grandiflora) is another flower I love. These gorgeous beauties make my balcony garden a veritable paradise. The different colors and shades these flowers come in is amazing. I cannot have roses in my balcony garden as the space is limited and Texas bluebells are a great choice. I would say they look better than roses.. what do you say?

Beautiful flowers - the everyday flowers

This is not morning glory.. these are small flowers that grow wild. Actually a vine people use to cover their trellises and fences with. I am not sure of the name though. These have such rich color and they look amazing if you need to use them for privacy from your nosy neighbors... and what a way to shut out the world!

Beautiful flowers - Poinsettias

Christmas is quickly approaching...the poinsettias in my garden are already perking up. They are the harbingers of the season for me..the caroling and fun will soon begin.. join the fun...Merry Christmas everyone!!
