My Favourite Songs From Korean Dramas (2011)
Falling in Love With Korean Drama OST
The Hallyu fever is definitely still going strong. In the many popular Korean dramas that we watch, there are lots of Korean songs which stand out and continue to remain in our minds, even long after the series has ended. I have compiled this list to share some of my favourite Korean drama songs in 2011 (in no particular order).
Again, Today I Love You by Baek Ji Young (Princess' Man OST)
The Female Voices Which Touch My Heart
Baek Ji Young, is well known for her many contribution to Korean Drama soundtracks (OSTs). One of my favourites from her is "Again, Today I Love You" from the Princess' Man soundtrack. Another Korean diva who touches hearts with her voice is Seo Young Eun. Her song "Though It Seems Forgotten" stands out among the other songs on the brilliant 49 Days OST.
It Has To Be You by Yesung Super Junior (Cinderella's Sister OST)
Kpop Stars Conquering Korean Dramas Too!
In recent years, more and more idols are also singing for drama OSTs. A good example would be CN Blue lead singer, Jung Yong Hwa. Besides being the lead in Heartstrings or You've Fallen For Me, he also contributes to the OST with the song, Because You Love Me.
Another Hallyu star is Hero Jaejoong who acts in his first Korean drama, Protect The Boss. He sings the song," I'll Protect You" which is sure to touch the hearts of all his female fans and the drama viewers.
Yesung, one of the lead vocals for Super Junior also constantly sings for various soundtracks. His most famous soundtrack song to date is definitely,"It Has To Be You" from the Cinderella's Sister OST. Although this is from year 2010, I couldn't resist from including it here as I really, really love the song. As I attended Super Show 3 in Singapore, I had the opportunity to hear him sing this live. He was awesome! And at one point, everyone at the concert was singing along. An extremely precious memory to treasure.
Inspiring and Upbeat Korean Drama Songs
Although most Korean dramas are well known for their heartbreaking ballads, there are also exceptions. One of my favourites is, "It's Alright" by Yang Hwa Jin, an upbeat track from City Hunter. Another uplifting song with inspiring lyrics is "Dreaming" from the music-themed drama Dream High. This song is performed by the drama's lead actor, Kim Soo Hyun, who is currently enjoying great fame due to his latest drama, The Moon That Embraces The Sun.
Do Not Forget Me by Huh Gak (Greatest Love OST)
The Male Voice Which Make You Cry
Besides the diva who can make you cry, there are also talented male singers like Kim Jae Seok who sings, "Wanted" for the drama Can You Hear My Heart. An upcoming singer, Huh Gak, also contributes an unforgettable ballad, "Do Not Forget Me" for the Best Love/The Greatest Love OST (pun intended). Indeed, if you are new to Korean dramas, you will realise that besides captivating viewers through a great cast, plot, directing and cinematography, some dramas really do stand out for their outstanding music!
