Paranormal Activity Reviewed.

This film is one of them classics that is filmed with the good old hand held cameras and although it is quite slow most of the way through it does provide some genuine scares because of the realism factor and the fact that there are only ever four actors in the film. To watch this film in the dark is the best and that's what I did with my mrs and the film itself was a disturbing one as the paranormal activity worsens.

The largely unknown actors don't really shine, but then they shouldn't in this low budget scare flick as they are just meant to go through the motions as they live around the haunted goings on in their house. The bulk of the paranormal occurrences centre around the woman as apparently we learn that she has had these haunted happenings follow her around since she was a child which means that she can't escape by leaving the house.

What adds to the frustration I suppose is the boyfriend who treats it as a joke and only sees it all as a fascination at first and so he sets up the camera and microphone in their bedroom to capture any paranormal phenomenon, but as things progress he soon realizes that it isn't any joke as an expert theorizes that it could be a demonic entity that is trying to break into the real world and that all it needs is an invite to come through and that's when the boyfriend messes with a ouija board or at least he doesn't get the chance as understandably his girlfriend won't allow him to speak through the board.

After this point however the haunting get worse as the demon tries to possess the woman on several occasions as it zaps her energy, although you never see anything other than shadows from the demon ghosty it's all about suggestion and what you don't see and I'd say the ending is quite freaky too.

Paranormal activity is like marmite, you'll either love it or hate it because of the certain style of film making at work, although I've never seen any films made with marmite. I liked this movie however because it had an atmosphere to it that was unlike other films and plus all that haunting stuff caught on camera is all the rage what with shows like Most Haunted.
