This morning, I got my computer booted up early so I could start writing on my four blogs, etc. and stopped to take a look at what was going on in the news. The first thing that caught my eye was a photo of Lady Gaga dressed like a man. Intrigued, I clicked on the photo and was completely mesmerized by what I saw.

This woman is amazing. When she first hit the music scene, in her own over-the top fashion, viewers didn't know what to make of her...weird outfits, strange and colorful hairdos, and performances that reeked of sex. And they kept getting weirder and sexier. But with each performance her audiences, and those who would in general not be part of her audiences (that would me me), started noticing her talent as a singer and her brilliance as a performer.

She certainly situated herself into the right venues and we started getting used to her and maybe even looked forward to her unique weirdness. She's been on just about every talk show there is, given interviews that demonstrated her intelligence, been a mentor on American Idol , and a guest judge on So You Think You Can Dance and is continually asked to be part of important musical events, where she always gives a strong, unique, and very physical performance combining unusual vocals with dance and theatrical contexts.

Granted, some of her performances, remarks, and innuendos are a bit raunchy. But, if you can look past that, she's rather amazing. And this latest VMA performance appears to be a stretch which demonstrates to her followers and others that there's a lot more to her than meets the eye. I am, at this moment, not sure of the significance of this performance but I am sure that the answer will come out as soon as people start speculating.
