My Inspiration

In 2014, Jo_Goldsmith11 took it upon herself to initiate the Light2Love Project Good Words.

Jo pledged to use good words and publish articles used to empower, encourage, support and defend those who need to be shown love.

Jo offered us a good word for each week to focus our thoughts, behaviors and actions on...In the 3th week, Jo wrote her perspective on the word inspiration.

However, as 2014 came to an end, Jo filed away her Good Word articles - as she begins the process of publishing it in e-book'. Shyron E. Shenko continues to write a beautiful poem to accompany each Good Word to inspire and lead us.

The ripple effect of the Good Words Project throughout the HubVille community has been heartwarming.

Please join me with some of my musical thoughts and reflections on the word inspiration...

Inspiration in Music

Babies... puppies... sunsets... my students... the seasons... countless people in my life...all causes for inspiration.

As my constant companion, music has accompanied me through times of inspiration. From processional orchestrations at graduation ceremonies to the unforgettable soundtracks of classic movies over the years, music has been a phenomenal source of inspiration to me.

I am more creative when soft background music is playing. Instrumental or classical music works best for me at these times.

Certain song lyrics can pop into my head when task-oriented. For example, Freddie Mercury's: "Don't Stop Me Now" has been my mantra since 1979, the year I graduated high school...!

I've selected a variety of inspirational songs I have grown to love over the years. Are there any songs or lyrics that bring INSPIRATION to these do in me? If so, please share YOURS in the comment section below... thanks, mar!

Inspiration in Lyrics

You're all I got to get me by (1) ... No wind - no wind - No rain - no rain - Nor winter's cold - Can stop me, babe (2)... You should know, everywhere I go - You're always on my mind, in my heart - In my soul (3)... Dreams are hard to follow - But don't let anyone - Tear them away - Hold on - There will be tomorrow - In time - You'll find the way (4)... But how do you thank someone - who was taken you from crayons to perfume - It isn't easy but I'll try - If you wanted the sky -
I would write across the sky in letters - That would soar a thousand feet high (5)... There is no life - no life without its hunger - Each restless heart beats so imperfectly - But when you come and I am filled with wonder - Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity (6)...

Elton John: Circle of Life

Lyrics of Inspiration

And bad mistakes ‒ I've made a few - I've had my share of sand kicked in my face - But I've come through (8)... Don't give up the fight! - Don't give it up, don't give it up! (9)...And it's now or never - 'Cause I ain't gonna live forever - I just want to live while I'm alive (10)... You can dance right through your life - What a feeling - I can really have it all (11)...

Vangelis: Chariots of Fire

Inspirational Mantras

It's the eye of the tiger - It's the thrill of the fight - Rising up to the challenge of our rival (13)...Think of the happiest things - It's the same as having wings - Take the path that moonbeams make - If the moon is still awake (14)... If I can see it - then I can do it - If I just believe it - there's nothing to it (15)... I'm a shooting star leaping through the skies - Like a tiger defying the laws of gravity (16)...

Thanks for Saying Yes...

Over two years ago, I became friends with author, illustrator, editor and publisher Mike Friedman of mckbirdbks.

Mike was gracious enough to allow his 'signature' birds to become the inspirational trademark for Jo Goldsmith's Good Word Project.

It seems fitting in a hub about music and inspiration to include this poignant quote from 'To Kill A Mockingbird':

"Mockingbirds don't do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don't eat up people's gardens, don't nest in corncribs, they don't do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That's why it's a sin to kill a mockingbird."

I'm not even sure if Mike realizes how much he inspires me. He is one of the only people in my life who routinely asks me what I am working on. That question really motivates me.

When I asked him if he'd be willing to participate in this challenge, instead of simply saying yes, he asked me to send him his word.

Thanks, Mike, for agreeing to write on the subject of inspiration..! To paraphrase Carly Simon: "Nobody (will do) it better..."!

Oh, my, I had to revisit this glorious hub. Your writing is so inspirational. Enjoyed the selection of music which 'hugs' your thoughts. "Chariots Of Fire" always motivates me and lifts me up. I love playing this piece on the piano. I've never found an audience who hasn't responded to this composition in a positive manner.

Don't forget who loves you, baby! :)

Great hub—love your choices of music! I remember one line from a song called "Take It Easy" that I find inspirational, "Don't let the sound of your own wheels make you crazy." My favorite inspirational songs for many good words are Debussy's Clair de Lune and Beethoven's Pathetique sonata. I play the last two on the piano and always find comfort and outlet in the process.

Great hub—voted awesome and more. Keep up the good work! :-)

      Good Morning, my friends,

Martie, Thanks for visiting with your beautiful support and I'm happy to have inspired you to watch these videos.

Theresa, Ah, Jim Croce' s song is also a favorite of mine. I love how we have both connected to our music over the years. I'm also looking forward to Mike's inspirational thoughts. Thanks for your genuinely lovely words and your kindness to Andy and me.

Thanks, sweet Ruby. You and I share the same appreciation for our music and dear Mike. Yup, Andy does the jig...go figure!

Shyron, I am loving your heartfelt and sharing comments. "The Prayer" is an awesome song, thanks for the detailed lyrics and the other powerful songs that bring inspiration to you.

Mary, I invite you to get 'carried away', just slowly (LOL)... just to see you back makes me feel wonderful. I am hoping you feel a little better each day and "keep using music to provide comfort". Take good and gentle care of yourself and know how much we all love you here in HubVille.

Hoping you all have a peaceful day. Hugs, Maria

It is not the least bit surprising that such a lovely and thoughtful person as yourself would write such a beautiful and comforting piece. What a great person Mike must be!

I too, have used music as my comfort all my life. One of my favorites, "I am I Don Quixote the Lord of LaMancha, my destiny calls and I go..." Actually many songs from that musical including Dulciaea..."I have sought thee,, sung thee, dreamed thee, Dulcinea!"

Okay, before I get carried away, let me end by saying I have voted this inspiration up, useful, awesome, beautiful, and shared.

Maria, this is just beautiful, awesome and wonderful. The part of your writing about the Mockingbirds really touched me. My hubby whistles while he is working outside or in the garage and there is a Mockingbird who sits on our roof and imitates my husband's whistling.

Can't wait to read Mike's inspiring words.

      Fav music.

And help us to be wise in times

Way to go Mar. This is beautiful. A world without music would be dull and boring. Many of the songs you've selected are favorites of mine, esp. Elton John's Circle of life. I hear Andy can dance a jig, i am not surprised! lol..What would we do without Mike inspiring us, plus helping with technology on this thing called a computer? Love and hugs..

Oh, look at you there, sweet friend, inspiring us all with your "Pearls of Wisdom" and such totally awesome tunes! I love them all. One song that always inspired me from a long time ago ... "I Got a Name" by Jim Croce.

Oh, boy, am I looking forward to Mike's hub on the "Good Word" of inspiration! His amazing creative writing always inspires me to be a better writer and his music choices are always perfect on his hubs.

I could never imagine a world without music ... ohhh me, as I must listen to my inspirational tunes each day, especially while on my daily commute into the city. By the time I arrive at work, I am in an excellent frame of mind : )

Maria, I want you to know how much you inspire me with your perseverance through trials and all the while continuing to be a beautiful source of encouragement to all with whom you come into contact.

      Good Afternoon, friends,

Bill, You are so kind always. Thank you very much.

Audrey, It's wonderful to see you here, much appreciated.

Gail, Thanks for your visit and your detailed comment. I'm thrilled to hear what you listen to while your creative juices are going. Yes, I also have a special mentor in mind with the song: "To Sir With Love". And just like Aunt Baby, from the ride home, young Andy has been grooving to all kinds of tunes.

"Aunt" Sha, You are so right about Andy...he loves all his new peeps! And you equally so right about Mike: "He not only possesses it, he exudes it!"

Mike, I am ever so happy you have agreed to tackle the subject of INSPIRATION. Don't get me wrong, I simply adore your fiction but I suspect you have much wisdom to impart in any / other genres in which you choose to write. I have no doubt your submission will be "beyond fitting"...! Thanks for tweeting too.

Peg, We are clearly musical Sistas, as we love so many of the same tunes. "They lift us up when we're down, bring a smile to our faces and a lift to our step." That's a perfect description of what this music does for me too.

Thank you all for your thoughtful comments. Have a peaceful night. Hugs. Maria

This is truly a great selection of songs and inspirational lyrics to start off the week. Most of these are my favorite tunes as well. They lift us up when we're down, bring a smile to our faces and a lift to our step. "To Sir With Love" has remained in my heart along with "I Believe I Can Fly".

Looking forward to reading Mckbirdbks' take on this week's word.

Hello mar. You sure selected some great song titles. And you knowledge of songs must make it possible for you to assemble the lyrics so well. I recognize most of them. This 'Project Good Words' has been a work from the heart of Jo_Goldsmith and that you have given it a boost, I feel, is something very positive.

Andy is looking good and seems to be feeling right at home with his new forever family.

I will do what I can to submit a fitting article in the tradition that Jo, you and your crack team of writers who have gone before me.

Ah yes, Mike always does rise to a challenge and inspires so many of us. It'll be interesting to see his response hub.

You brought up a lot of my favorite songs for inspiration, but the one that's most sentimental to me is, "To Sir, With Love," because I had that kind of teacher in the 5th grade and he was still inspiring me and helping me grow up from crayons to perfume when I was in high school and college. Sadly, he died soon after I became a nurse.

I like to write when listening to music, particularly instrumental sax and piano tunes.

I'm glad you're already introducing Andy to great music and that he likes it.

Voting this hub up across the board.

      Hugs & Love,
