Madison Avenue has recently won the coveted title of "Most Beautiful In Pittsburgh". The contest was held by Pittsburgh's top beauty blog, "

Beautiful In Pittsburgh", which was recently named one of the top 3 Pittsburgh blogs. The contest was open to all women/ girls from Pittsburgh and surrounding areas, and ran this July. Madison beat out many girls vying for the title and Pittsburgh has welcomed her with open arms. On top of that accomplishment, Madison has recently been accepted as a candidate for Miss PA Teen USA. If she wins, she will represent Pennsylvania in the Miss Teen USA pageant. Needless to say Madison is a very busy girl these days, but she took a few minutes to sit down and talk with me.

LS: Madison, it seems you have a pretty hectic schedule going on right now, huh?

MA: Yes, things are a little crazy right now! I don’t even have time to process my thoughts. I can barely sleep, then I have to get up and do a shoot in the morning…it’s been tough. But, I wouldn't trade all the fun and excitement for the world!

LS: I can imagine! Before we get into your contests, tell us a little bit about Madison. What do you like to do when you have free time?

MA: Well, I turned 17 in October. Hmm, I really like to go thrift shopping. I feel accomplished when I find a new Forever 21 dress, and pay $2 dollars for it instead of $20. I am really uncoordinated, and do horribly at sports. When I was in the last show (Madison participates in many different plays and shows) I accidentally fell a couple times. Now I have bruises all over myself. Could you imagine the disaster that sports would bring up?

If I had a whole day to myself, I would love to do something adventurous like hiking, rock climbing, or kayaking. I know what you're thinking, she scrapes up her knee just falling in a show, but I think it would be really fun to try! For safer activities I really like going to museums and concerts at Heinz Hall and going to see Broadway shows too, I’m just careful going up and down the stairs!

LS: I completely understand. I would love to go kayaking or rock climbing, but I have a feeling it would turn into a disaster! Now, you recently won the title of “Most Beautiful In Pittsburgh”, congratulations! Tell me, how did you hear about the contest and why did you decide to apply?

MA: Thanks! I actually heard about the contest on Craigslist. I always browse the talent gigs because different production companies post on there. I came across the ad for the contest and I thought I might as well give it a shot. I thought it was worth a try, it seemed like a cool thing. In no way when I applied did I think anything of winning. I just thought it would be just another contest, and I would be just another entry.

LS: What was your reaction when you heard you had won?

MA: I actually got the email that I won when I woke up, about 6 in the morning. I looked at my phone, and it didn't really register yet. I was just kind of like, this is cool. Then once I actually woke up and got dressed, I read it again. That’s when it sunk in! I was in my room jumping around like, Did this really happen?!

LS: What have you been doing since you won the contest?

MA: I've had some offers from photographers wanting to work with me and I applied for Miss PA Teen USA. I just found out that I was accepted, and I’m super excited! If I win Miss Teen PA, I will go on to represent Pennsylvania in the Miss Teen USA competition. Winning would entitle me to a contract with top modeling agency, as well as scholarship opportunities, which is very important to me. A lot of the former contestants have gone into modeling, television, and other exciting careers.

LS: That’s amazing! So you are a model, a singer, and an actress. What is your ultimate dream?

MA: My ultimate dream is to either be on Television or the BIG SCREEN! I do love modeling, I am pursing it now to promote myself to eventually get into the film industry. Although, I love singing so maybe the movies and singing can go hand in hand. Maybe a remake of a Roger's and Hammerstein Musical.

LS: When did you decide that you wanted to sing and act?

MA: I was probably 5. I took my first dance class then, and that year I had my first dance recital. When I came home after the recital, I told my mother that I always wanted to be on the stage. After that, I just did more and more. Dancing, singing, acting. I loved it all. I loved taking pictures, and I loved being in front of a camera, which is why I fell in love with modeling.

LS: Wow, so you have been doing this for a long time! Who is your favorite actress, or what actress do you look up to?

MA: Kristen Chenoweth. She is a triple threat. She's on Broadway, she does movies, she does television, she can act and be cute at the same time! She has good style, and a good outlook on life. I hope that one day I can be as talented as her.

LS: Well, with that being said who is your favorite model?

MA: Abbey Lee Kershaw. She's beautiful and knows how to work the runway. What more can I say!

LS: What drives you to pursue your dreams?

MA: I feel like, I have and a lot of other actresses have been told at one point or another that "You'll never succeed in this business, your not talented enough, your not this, your not that". Every time someone brings me down, I just try harder. I never give up. I think that is why I will succeed. There never is a no, its always work, work, work! Try harder, do more, take an extra class here or there. I feel like, I've always had this dream, and I can't just give up. There's going to be tons of rejection, but that just makes me try harder. The fact that one door closes, drives me to find 50 other doors to see if they will open.

LS: What are some of the plays and productions you have been in?

MA: Boy! Where do I start? I am currently in the Music Man. I've been in How to Succeed, Beauty and the Beast, Midsummer Night's Dream, Godspell, Suessical, White Christmas, just to name a few.

LS: When you make it big, what kinds of things will you focus your attention on?

MA:I am very interested in starting a fund for researching Pancreatic Cancer. It is one of the most deadliest cancers out there, and I had to experience my Aunt dying of it. I would love to make a research center, to donate money to researching clinical trials and managing donations. I would call it the Rosalie Foundation, after my Aunt's name. And, I am hoping that one day I will be able to fund enough money that the medicine for fighting and prolonging those that have that cancer greatly increases. I wouldn't want anyone to have to go through what my Aunt did. I believe this particular cancer needs more attention, and I would use all of resources to do so.

LS: Your photos look amazing! Who took them?

MA: The photos featured here are a mixture of shoots done by Dawn Biery Photography and Studio 412 (a collaboration between Kaela Spicher and David Mihilarakis)!
Dawn Biery Photography actually shot the photos that were used in the “Most Beautiful In Pittsburgh” contest. I met her about a year ago, when I was still a novice, and she really helped me to “find my light”. I enjoy working with her, and I hope to continue to do so!

Kaela and David from Studio 412 are an interesting combination. They are very different but they put their strengths together and create some amazing works of art! One thing they do have in common, is their goal of perfection. They will not stop until they tease out the perfect shot.
I honestly had so much fun working with all of them, and you can see it reflected in the photos they took!

LS: OK, a less serious question. What is your all time favorite fashion look?

MA: All time favorite, is high waisted shorts, a bright colored crop top, and tan heels. Accents the legs, while still looking vintage and cute.

LS: Well I know that you are a busy girl so I will let you get out of here! Thank you so much for your time. Your are a sweet girl and I wish you the best of luck in your future!

MA: Thanks so much!

She is very pretty, and the photos are nice and romantic as locations. Very fashionistic and awesome. For a girl just 17, she is getting to see and do more than most people at her age. Great hub. Found this via the Blog Beautiful in Pittsburgh.
