'Love Is Blind': New Reality Show on Netflix

Love Is Blind is currently airing a new reality dating television series produced by Kinetic Content which premiered on Netflix on February 13, 2020, the first of a three-week show.

Love Is Blind is being compared to Married at First Sight. Even though both reality shows are produced by Kinetic Content, the formats are different. On Married at First Sight, the couples have no contact with their prospective spouses until they meet at the altar. Also, there are professional experts who match couples based on their profiles.

The couples on Married at First Sight know absolutely nothing about each other. The singles on Love Is Blind are in control of who is to be their mate. They decide based on the information they gather themselves while speed dating from pods.

About the Series

The series is a very short one. It is only three weeks long. Five episodes were released on Netflix on Thursday, February 13, 2020. Another four episodes will be released on Thursday, February 20. The tenth and final episode will air on Thursday, February 27.

Each episode lasts from 48 to 59 minutes. The little hosting that the series requires is conducted by husband and wife, Nick and Vanessa Lachey.

Format of "Love Is Blind"

The series is about 15 handsome single men and 15 attractive single women in their mid-twenties and early thirties who are there to find love and get engaged without ever seeing their potential companion in advance. The main part of the process is that the men and women can talk, but they cannot see each other until they become engaged. They have no idea how the person looks or race. However, they find out the person's age by asking them.

For ten days the men and women get to know one another through rounds of speed dating from individual pods with a wall between them. They talk and take notes to help them choose the person they can relate to based on the voice and what is said. The purpose is for the contestants to not be distracted by physical qualities but to make emotional connections.

After the ten days are up, the men are able to propose to the women they want to marry. After they are engaged, they will see each other for the very first time. The engaged couples are sent on vacation to Cancun, Mexico to get to know their partners better. It seems a little awkward because the men and women in the group have dated each other during the speed dating events. Now they get to see the men, but they are engaged to someone else.

After their vacation, they will move in together and meet their partners' families. If the relationship survives in the real world outside of the pods, then they will get married.

Unlike Married at First Sight, the couples do not have to wait until Decision Day to decide if they want to stay together. The couples on the new reality show can call off the engagement at any time even up to the time they walk down the aisle to the altar. One engaged couple has already called it quits.

What Has Happened So Far - Spoiler Alert

The first five episodes have already aired. Out of the 15 men and 15 women speed dating from the pods, 6 men and 6 women have become engaged.

The first engagement was when a 28-year-old white man chose a 32-year-old black woman. When they met, they couldn't keep their hands off of each other. They are happily engaged.

Another black man chose a black woman, and they became engaged. While on vacation in Mexico, he revealed a secret about his sexuality. When he shared with his fiancée that he was bi-sexual, she was disturbed that he had not told her before they became engaged. Carlton attacked Diamond because she wanted answers. She took off her engagement ring and placed it on the deck where they were sitting. Carlton picked up the ring and threw it in the pool. He called Diamond the "b" word and said her wig was crooked. They both left the resort unattached.
