More Intelligent Action Movies Like the Bourne Series

Having enjoyed the three Bourne trilogy mov ies, what now?

You might be surprised by this but movies like Bourne Identity, Bourne Supremacy, Bourne Ultimatum are surprising rare.

Here are some elements of the Bourne movies that makes them so enjoyable:

• A well crafted plot keeps the surprises coming
• A well written script that makes the characters behavior and actions believable
• Realistic and raw action sequences usually done mostly by the action stars themselve
• A determined and cool headed hero type
• Credible and memorable baddies   

If you liked Matt Damon in the Bourne series of films then you'll love Green Zone who also stars Matt Damon as a soldier out to make a difference in a senseless war.

The great thing about this movie is the lone hero plot line that Matt excels in, the depiction of the strange reality of the green zone in war torn Iraq is also an eye opener.

Movies like Bourne Identity makes us identify (pun intended) strongly with the hero, and Green Zone is very similar to Bourne in this aspect. People who craves realistic action will be rewarded amply with this movie.   

Movies like Bourne Supremacy usually have a male lead on the run who is part secret agent part invincible hero. Salt represents an extension of this genre with a female operative on the run played by Angelina Jolie.

Angelina simply loves doing her own stunts and this can be seen in her fantastic believable moves that rivals and even betters many of her male action stars.

The plot in the movie Salt is more elaborate and a tad more fantastic than that in Bourne. But it is also a believable one with the fantastic script thoughtful acting from Jolie and her ensemble cast.

Watch this movie for the nearly non-stop action interspaced with taut memorable dialogue. 

In Shooter an ex-government operative is asked to help his country one last time. But what unfolds is a setup in a wrong man on the run scenario.

There are some nice similarities with the Jason Bourne in terms of how he is portrayed and the cool headed hero antics. This is also a great treat for fans of government conspiracy theories that loves to cheer on the lone guy on the run and out for justice type of movies.
