Porn Braille

Updated on April 14, 2010

Porn Braille

It may sound like Porn Braille is someones idea of an April Fool joke. But no, this is for real. A Canadian woman has spent two years putting together what must be a unique publication in the form of a magazine which she has named 'Tactile Minds'. The magazine is much like the real thing with text based stories. The big difference here is that the raised pictures are touch and feel, an element missing from the conventional porn magazine. Each image within the book took a minimum of fifty hours to produce. 'Playboy' previously had a braille edition though it lacked the pictures.

One would presume that no offence would be caused to the average magazine shop browser and so it would not be necessary to confine the publication to the top shelf. The Porn Braille mag does not come cheap however and at £150 it will no doubt be sealed in plastic.

Those who have had contact with the magazine so far have approved. One partially sighted man is said to have said "It is what blind people have been waiting their entire lives for."

Each of the magazines is numbered and signed by the author. This has already elevated the publication from porn to 'art' status. This moves it into the realms of erotica and makes purchase more acceptable.

It Says Google

Wow! A great find for my cousin who is blind but he's not a liability. He's educated and has a steady job as reflexologist.

whiplash - Thank you for stopping by. I am glad to learn that you are a reader of classics too. It makes a person to have an open mind and a multitude of interests.

Cool. I thought I was the only one who had a copy. I have a 1974 December issue in braille that I bough 30 years ago at a garage sale for a couple of bucks. It sits on a table with books by classical authors, I always wondered what it might be worth.

      Thanks Chuck

I am blind, and technology is moving forward, this is a step backwards i my opinion.

I would take the money and buy a prostitute, much more edifying.

it is good that PLAYBOY issued this in January 1974. and there have been half ass attempts at raised pictures, which, in my opinion, is an insult to the intelligence of the Blind, per say, as they are crude.

I am a blind artist and paint nudes and sculpt. I have no problem producing my work, blindness is not a second citisen trait nor condition.

And a comment which called, Blind people 'Blinds', off to the Pillory for you.

Buffoon - It is an odd one. It is difficult to think of the concept of someone who may have been blind from birth. It makes one more aware of other needs of the blind.

Hello Peter! I thought you were kidding with this one, but not so! It's kinda cool that the blind's demand is also addressed, and I guess it just goes to prove porn (or erotica, if we're gonna get all artsy :-P) sells :)

Kudos for your guts!! The people who cant see have a supporter in you!! Whether you earn money through adsense or not is irrelevant!! Your ideal is what needs to be appreciated .. Thanks!!

Austinstar - It is a puzzle. I have just been through a few hubs written within the last few hours. Most but not all with a sexual bent have no adsense. Some are a bit naughty but others are tame and tasteful. I will continue too puzzle...still have too many other things keeping me busy though. I will get there in the end.

Hmmm, and I thought sex was the big seller on the internet. Like spam, I guess there's just too much of it.

If you figure it out, let us know!

Austinstar - 'scratch and sniff'? An interesting idea, though I believe smell to be a much more personal thing.

You may have a point with regards to word count but it would not explain the other half dozen hubs where I get no adsense at all. One of these I removed in its entirety to another site. They flagged it as well. I asked them to read it. They thanked me and said it was 'a very sensitive approach to a sensitive subject' and published it. Now it gets adsense but sadly, very few visitors. Still gets lots of visitors on HubPages. I will continue to try and figure.

Just a thought. It may be that the word count is too low. I think adsense prefers 400-600 word hubs. I could be wrong about that, but I think I read it somewhere.

Of course it could also be a random act of weirdness.

Next we'll get scratch and sniff porn magazines, ewwww! Why did that pop into my head?

Well, the blinds can see through their sense of touch. I have a cousin who's blind but often appreciate the beauty of a person by just touching and feeling the contour of one's face. This is really a find, Sir Pete D!

Hello, hello - I am only slightly surprised that you are shocked because it gave me a bit of a jolt when I read it but then I thought. Why not? I wrote about it because it was interesting but also to see what happened to the hub. Take a look again and you will see that there are no adsense ads. Why not? I have several hubs like this one which are inoffensive, informative, don't include the word sex, don't even touch on pornography (though this does) and yet I get no adsense at all. My most frequently visited hub has no adsense at all. I change the wording and wait a few days, change it again and wait again and still nothing.

One day I will figure it all out. What I don't understand is that in visiting other hubs that I will see adsense ads for "free porn" and similar. How can adsense advertise something which they will not allow you to write about on hubs? I cannot make sense of it.
