Scary Videos

It is no secret I love horror movies, but I also love a good scare from a short film as well. I personally don't have a lot of free time to watch lengthy videos on YouTube. I do, however, have 5 minutes or less to watch some creepy videos. If you also have a short attention span or you don't have much time, I have a list of short horror flicks for you.

There are plenty of scary short films on YouTube. Some are good, and some are... well, not so good. Basically, if I found the film gave me a good scare, I included it on this list. If I felt it was lacking or too generic, it did not make it. If you would like to lose a little sleep tonight or you are looking for a good list of videos to show at a Halloween party, this is the list for you.

Tuck Me In

My obsession with this video started with an article about a creepy short film. Apparently, there was post on Reddit asking everyone to share a scary story in only two sentences. Someone shared a story of a father checking on his child only to find an exact duplicate of his kid under the bed. From that, several versions of the tale have started to appear online.

There is another unsettling version of this story that appears on YouTube. The short firm is calling, "Something Under the Bed" and it features a girl instead. I prefer this particular version because of the pacing of the video. It is short and sweet, but I like that the boy is calm throughout the video.

He Dies at the End

Have you ever been working late at the office all alone and felt a little creeped out? If not, you are totally missing out because I have! Trust me, when the elevator started stopping on my floor all by itself, I started to question why I was working alone on weekends.

At any rate, even if you've never experienced this first hand, I have a video that will allow you to feel as if you are there. I suppose the lesson learned here, when your computer starts asking you questions, DON'T RESPOND!

Bedfellows

I've had a lot of weird nightmares about phones and scary calls, but yet, I had never imagined this one. Of course, I am sure I will barely sleep tonight knowing this could happen.

I know you are probably tired of the standard "woman answering strange phone call in the middle of the night" deal, but I assure you, this one is different. You might find you are carefully checking your bed tonight.

Lights Out

"Lights Out" focuses on another basic fear most of have: the dark. One always has to wonder, what is out there when the lights go out. Unfortunately, this lady finds out the hard way.

In just under 3 minutes, this film manages to show true fear to an audience. It is very simple, yet very effective. Watch out for the monsters tonight after you watch this short horror film.

Upstairs

As far as low-budget YouTube flicks with teenagers go, this is probably one of the best. I am not sure why it takes the one kid a full hour to go check on his friend that simply went to use the bathroom. I can only assume he thought the kid was constipated, but still, I would probably check on my friend a little sooner than that.

Nonetheless, if you forget about the little issue of waiting an hour, this is quite an enjoyable short horror film. If you want a quick and unsettling scare, I recommend giving "Upstairs" a try. It did spook me out.

Last Train Home

Do you ride public transportation? If the answer is yes, prepare to be scared. If the answer is no, well, you will probably still like this video.

In any public transportation situation there is always "the last ride home" and you just have to take it when time gets away from you. No one enjoys taking the last train or the last bus, but it usually doesn't end up as terrifying as this. If there was ever short film out there to help encourage people to buy a car, this is it.

There Are Monsters

I realize I pretty much promised everything on this list would be 5 minutes or less, but this video is an exception to the rule. If you are willing to devote 10 minutes of your time to being scared, I present to you: There Are Monsters.

This short horror film has something for everyone:

  • Creepy little girl
  • Weird bloody scene at a store
  • Scary bedroom scene
  • And ice cream!

What is not to love about this movie? I even enjoyed the oddly realistic one-sided conversation the husband is having with his wife near the end. Who hasn't talked some trash like that after a party?

Who's There?

Sometimes I just want to watch a subtle horror film. "Who's There?" is just that type of scary clip. It is very basic and slowly creeps you out. Who hasn't woke up in the middle of the night to think something is just a little off?

What I like about this clip is no weird or disgusting effects are used. No one has a ghoulish face. It is a good eerie clip that will make you never get out of bed to investigate a mysterious sound again.

Ghost Screaming Caught on Security Camera

There is much debate about this video. I've heard it is totally fake, but I've also heard from the believers, too. I am not sure what to believe. Even though this is technically not a film, there are plenty of "found footage" movies out there, so we can just pretend this is a "found footage" YouTube video.

Whether you believe the video is true or not is really not the point. The point is, this video is totally creepy. It is also pretty believable, so if it is a fake, they totally accomplished a great hoax.
