Songs with the word HEAVEN in the title (with youtube links)
We all want to go to heaven some day, but don't want to do what he have to get there, or something like that. Anyway, these songs have the name of the final resting stop for the more faithful of us in the titles.
"Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin. The most overplayed song in rock history, but it is still brilliant. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvEgNTrB-g0
"Heaven and Hell" by Black Sabbath. The Ronnie James Dio version of Sabbath was MY Sabbath. And this song is so powerful that it just take you on a seven-minute thrill ride, ending with Tony Iommi playing a melancholy guitar piece by himself after the great climax. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-og87crqsCE
"Heaven" by Bryan Adams. One of the biggest hits of his career. And yes, excessively listening to this can cause diabetes,... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eT464L1YRA
"Heaven on the Seventh Floor" by Paul Nicholas. A harmless little pop single from the disco era. I remember Paul Nicholas playing the evil Henderson brother in the "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band" movie. The movie bombed, and so did his career. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohW49tIdy0c
"Rock and Roll Heaven" by the Righteous Brothers. This came out in 1974, and it mentions Jimi Hendrix, Jim Croce, Janis Joplin, Otis Redding, and Bobby Darin, and the line "If there's a rock and roll heaven, you know they've got a hell of a band" is priceless, and true. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IEemZ6-LZc
"Heaven, Hell or Houston" by ZZ Top. From the El Loco album.
"If You Wanna Get to Heaven" by the Ozark Mountain Daredevils. My mother, who was a born-again Christian, couldn't stand this song, because if you haven't heard it, the rest of the title, in parentheses, is (You Gotta Raise a Little Hell). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYvOsnhV6ZY
"Heaven is in Your Eyes" by Loverboy. Lame song from the Top Gun soundtrack. Hey, I don't have to like all these songs, ya know,...
"Heaven Must Be Missing an Angel" by Tavares. A good pop single from the seventies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VAtRF4US8k
"Heaven Must Have Sent You" by the Elgins. An early Motown single. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8iiH-0ptHY&playnext=1&list=PL71C4E34A46B851D2&feature=results_video
"Heaven is a Place on Earth" by Belinda Carlisle. Her signature song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOGEyBeoBGM
Okay, that's enough of that. The counterpart destination will be the part of another piece. As always, comment if you wish and let me know what I forgot.
And now I'd like to add my new favorite song to this list. "Heaven Knows" by the Pretty Reckless. Enjoy,...
