Updated on July 3, 2015

Introduction to School Life Anime

School life romantic anime is one of the most popular genre of anime series, since they are so fun to watch. School life anime are full of life, joy and comedy. Here is my list of top 10 best school life anime series.

School Rumble

School Rumble is an anime series that balance comedy and romance. The story is about Kenji and Tenma. When the strange Oji appears, the two characters end up in an awkward love triangle. Many extremely funny situations arrive from the way things develop between the three.

Honey Clover

Takemoto Yuuta, Morita Shinobu, and Mayama Takumi are college students sharing a small apartment. They are quite poor, but still able to find joy in the small things in life. The storyline follows the life stories of these three poor college students and their love lives when Hanamoto Hagumi, a 18 year old talented girl appears in their lives.

Toradora is among the best school life anime because it is not only a great romantic story but also funny. The storyline focuses on the life of Ryūji Takasu. He is actually a really nice guy despite looking a little dodgy.

It becomes clear you cannot be judged a book by its cover. He falls in love with Minori Kushieda. At first, both characters love someone else but have no idea how to convey their feelings. Taiga agrees to help Ryuji and Ryuji agrees to help Taiga, since they are in the same boat. Both face many problems as the story progress and things get interesting...

Zero no Tsukaima

Zero no Tsukaima anime is full of magic and comedy. The story is about Louise, a girl who uses her magical powers to summon a young Japanese boy instead of summoning a creature. Of course, if you knew how to use magic, why wouldn’t you use it to summon a crush?

Kimi ni Todoke

Kuronuma Sawako is a school girl that is completely misunderstood and mistreated by her classmates. She has a sweet and timid demeanor that is often mistaken for malicious behavior. This is not surprising as she looks like a ghost from "The Ring".

For this reason, her peers at school give her the nickname Sadako. Sawako is longing to live a normal live and to make friends with any girl her age. She is drawn to the most popular boy in class, Kazehaya Shouta. The guy’s "100% refreshing" personality makes Sawako admire him and hoping for friendship and perhaps romance?

Fruits Basket

The lead character in Fruits Basket, Tohru Honda is an unlucky yet compassionate girl. She has been forced to camp out in the woods after her mother passed away. However, once she is invited to live with class hunk Yuki Sohma’s family, it seems that things start to turn around for her.

Over at Yuki's family, there is a dark curse and once any of the guys get hugged by someone of the opposite sex, they turn into the Chinese Zodiac animals. This is where things get interesting...

Itazura na Kiss

Kotoko Aihara is a school girl who has always been in love with Naoki Irie. The guy is handsome, tall, and is the most intelligent student in Japan.

Kotoko is quite the opposite and is the ditzy girl at school. Irie-kun hates ditzy, stupid girls. But when Kotoko is forced to move in with Irie-kun’s family, the girl hopes to get her chance to get close to him. All she has to do is to find his soft spot, right?

Ouran High School Host Club

Ouran High is a private school for the extremely talented or the extremely wealthy. In Haruhi's case, she is extremely talented. However, no amount of talent can help her when she accidentally breaks a vase valued at eight million yen. The expensive vase was the property of a group of attractive men from the Ouran High School Host Club.

They use to provide their affections and time for a fee. Among female students, they do not lack female groupies. They force Haruhi to work for them to pay the debt but they end up showing interest in Haruhi. As the story unfolds, the guys get a lot more than they hoped for.

Say "I love you."(Sukitte Ii Na Yo)

Mei Tachibana not only didn’t have a boyfriend in 16 years, she doesn't even have friends. She doesn’t care so much about that.. She learned years ago that all she gets from social meetings are pain and sorrow. Since then, she closes her heart from any social situation.

However, the socially awkward girl started attracting the attention of the charming Yamato. The handsome guy wants to date her because he finds her personality really interesting. As the story unfolds and the romance between them grows, they become crippled by jealousy and insecurity.

Special A

Hikari Hanazono has struggled to defeat her rival Kei Takashima at anything ever since their first meeting at six years old. Whether it is academics or athletics, the two always compete. Until now, she is unsuccessful at beating Kei and Kei constantly keeps calling her "second place."

But behind the scenes, Kei has been in love with Hikari for quite some time. Hikari has no idea about that. Their competitiveness continues and it will eventually be a time when Hikari realizes Kei likes her...
