What I Bargained For
What I Bargained For
by Chuck RitenouR
verse 1:
I dreamed my friends came to me to help carry my load
I know some are gone, but not forgotten to that better place I know
yeah, I took alot of comfort cause they'd help me if they could
and when I woke this mornin', I was feeling pretty good
so "Honey" put some coffee on and fry my bacon crisp
let me wrap my arms around your waist and kiss your sweet lips
and tell me that you love me as I stumble out the door.
this ain't the life I had in mind, but its what I bargained for.
verse 2:
There's roses growing in the yard with dew still on their leaves.
I should be a happy man, happy as a man could be.
But sometimes I come back home girl, cause I've got nowhere else to go.
and I pray to God each and every night, that you will never know
so "Honey" turn the lights down low and shuffle off to bed.
I would never try to hurt you girl, with anything I said.
I know the pain you're carryin', why should I add more
this ain't the life I had in mind, buts its what I bargained for.
verse 3:
Once I was a young man with many a young man's dreams
I watched some die one at a time, I heard their bloody screams
and some became so twisted I could not recognize
those dreams I dreamed so sweetly right before my eyes.
so "Honey" say you understand just the way I feel
and shake me til I'm awake and tell its all real.
is love just a game we play with no one keeping score
this ain't the life I had in mind, but its what I bargained for.
