Fire with Fire (1986) Synopsis: Joe Fisk (Craig Sheffer), a young convict at a detention camp, falls in love with Lisa (Virginia Madsen), a student at a nearby Catholic school. The two lovers first meet in the woods. Joe is running through the forest when he spots Lisa lying in a pond, beautifully dressed, surrounded by flowers. Although the two do not speak to each other, it is apparent that it is love at first sight. Later, they meet for a second time, once again very briefly, when Joe and his prison friends are on an excursion at the local cinema. Their eyes meet during the screening of the film. Lisa convinces the sisters at the school that it would be a nice gesture to invite the boys from the neighboring detention camp to a dance. The meeting between the two lovers at the dance is wonderfully staged and certainly is a highlight of the film. Their love for each other is cemented at the dance and sparks off their emotional desire to be together at all costs. Here's the movie trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZB7yrukwzag
I never thought about it, but Craig Sheffer can look similar to David Boreanaz! But, your description of what the man looks like made me think of "Fire with Fire". Wait! It could be "Nighbreed" (1990) if it's a horror movie. "Nightbreed" does star Sheffer and takes place in a cemetery; the girl he loves does follow him to Midian, the city beneath the cemetery. So, maybe that is your movie instead. It depends on whether your movie is a horror film or a regular sort of romance.
