Why is there such a sudden bombardment of Vampire movies & TV shows

Twilight - Tru Blood - I think Buffy the vampire slayer started it all..LMAO

Once something sticks (umm, Twilight) everyone tries to get a piece of the action. This blood hungry vampire stuff is only a fad. Buffy for sure was one of the true OG's of this madness, at least in the TV world that is. Creating something like seven seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and then their spin off show, Angle. Now original Vampire movies can be traced as far back as film making goes. Dracula fans, you know what I'm talking about. And before media, video, TV, film and all that stuff, what did we have? Oh ya, books. Bram Stoker first published his novel in 1897, but it wasn't until 1992 that Francis Ford Coppola made it into a movie. It's really quite something to see how far these fictional monsters have come, and there's no stopping the trend now, that is, until the next BIG THING comes along or back from the dead- OUCH!

P.S. my favorite vampire movie, 1987 Lost Boys

Short answer is that the vampire, for the most part, escapes death.  Long answer, see the Hub I am about to post on this most worthy question.
