No. They are both design classics - the Tele is much more versatile, and not so heavy. In an ideal world you would have both!
Well, it is more expensive. They are both very different guitars. Which one is better depends on largely on application and personal preference.
I like the neck better on the LP, but that just suits me, I think they both have their place in the story of the electric guitar

What is a good electric guitar under $500?I've played on a $100 charvel for 10 years and perhaps it's time to get something nicer. Gibson and Les Paul seem to be the best but those generally cost $500+.
