The Coasters performed and recorded Charlie Brown, written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stroller. These two wrote songs for Elvis, the Drifters, Ben E. King and lots of others. Mike Stroller also wrote the other hit by the Coasters "Yakety Yak". The story, if I remember it correctly, is that Stroller already had the music completely written and couldn't think of any words to go along. Leiber came up with "He's a clown, that Charlie Brown" and the rest just fell into place.
