Yes, I've noticed that too. Not sure why that is the case. Perhaps the HubPages staff will know. But if you want a fuller discussion thread where people could reply back and forth more than once, post the question in the Hubpages forum instead of in the questions and answers.
Because they don't want the question area to be for debates and if you were allowed to post more than one comment, you could be answering to others comments as well. Better off posted in the forum.
In fact, I have had a couple of questions closed because they considered them a topic of debate.
