If you made a soundtrack to your life, what 5 songs would be necessities? What does each represent?
'Take my breath away'-representing my relationship. 'St. Elmo's Fire'-representing some of the challenging times I've been through.
'The Lord is My Shepherd', representing the guidance God constantly gives as I've pursued new challenges. 'I am woman hear me roar', for times I and other women have made strides all over the world.
'We are all brothers and sisters' by Ziggy Marley, because this is what i believe. There are lots more but these are some of them. I don't think I've named all of them with the correct title, but you get the picture.
Okay, the first song on my list is,"Imagine" by John Lennon. The song truly resonated with me and my family's situation abroad during our stay in a Thai refugee camp in the wake of the Vietnam war. Although I heard the song a countless number times before I saw Roland Jofee's, "The Killing Fields" in which "Imagine" was the last song that played, I was floored; memories my family's plight from Thailand to the United States came rushing back once again.
The second song is,"When I'm With You," by Sheriff. This song was the band Sheriff's first and last hit song. Actually, the band broke up right before it began topping the charts! I first heard it the first time I fell for a girl. It was at a sixth grade graduation dance and I'll never forget it. Heck, it was the first time I slow danced as well. Talk about unforgettable...
The third is the song,"The Living Years" by Mike and the Mechanics. Although this came out years beforehand, every time I heard this song in the radio it reminded me of the tension and discord between my father and I as he and I had a serious falling out whilst I was a teenager. It wouldn't be until I graduated from high school that he and I would make amends. It took my becoming an adult to realize just how much he and I are actually alike.
The fourth song is "Alive," by Pearl Jam. The song pretty much epitomizes my entire college experience. It's the song that reminds me of some really fast and fun times, notably while being a brother in a fraternity. When all is said and done, college will most likely be the funnest time of my life. "Alive" reminds me of such.
My fifth and final song is by my all-time favorite band, the "Red Hot Chili Peppers" and the name of the song is "Wet Sand" which is the last track to their album "Stadium Arcadium" off the Jupiter side. "Wet Sand" is one of my all-time favorite songs which perfectly describes imperfection in narcissism. When hearing this colossal song for the first time, I was still getting over a girl whom I dated for three years. The song just spoke to me and set me right. John Frusciante's solo therein is one of the best ever recorded.
Now, these aren't exactly my favorite songs of all time but they are accurate in their interpretation and is solely unique to me. If anything else, they are all worth listening to.
