As a DJ, how do you stay current on today's hottest music?
i Subscribe to record pools and listen to the main dj's on national radio stations
alot of youtube and im subscribed to the radio station on facebook anything i can listen to music on and google new song coming out and soon to be released cd's
I had worked being a DJ but this time I am a teacher and hobbyist. I think my answer is the frequent update through internet and local radio monitoring.
It has been said that the people's favorite are played on air.
Music is like a drug. People are addicted to it from time to time.
I think most DJ's have a passion for music. We listen to so many requests and talk with so many other like minded people that the community is a continued source of music education. Professionals also use music pools and companies like TM Studios or Promo Only, but that mostly just gets us up on what is popular or will be popular.
The real question is how do the trend setters in the music industry find what the next big thing will be? Is it just a guess as to what will be most lucrative or is it a desire to find originality and musical progress?
