Geez, look at the box office these days...full of corny, boring, whack-ass movies...movies that make you wanna just puke your guts out...really, Hollywood is just gone to hell...if not for few like Scorcese, Copolla, De Palma, Tarantino, Coen Brothers, Rodriguez, and the likes Hollywood would just be pure, 100% unadulterated crap...that's just why I stick with british flicks by Guy Ritchie, Matthew Vaughn, etc
PLEASE, enough of the chick flicks...who gives a monkey's piss who's dating who? who gives a smoking dragon who's sleeping with who? Only phony, corny people...people who wanna sit on their couch and watch Jennifer Aniston movies all day, with a box of tissue paper lying all over the damn place, crying their eyes out...Gawd, I'm reaching under my bed right now for my magnum...and if I ever see one more corny, boring movie, just one...I'll shoot something...
I was just getting ready to go watch "The Grapes of Wrath"...is that one ok? Never seen it!
That was 2 hours well spent...glad I rented it!
I love "The Grapes of Wrath", it's one of my fav movies. Some chick flicks are ok, but even as a woman, I get fed up with them pretty quickly and can only take so much.
Well you're an aspiring director, go direst a blockbuster my man. Like, Gone Fiery With the Wind!
At last, someone speaks out in this matter! Fiery, you rock! I also hate this Tarantino, Coppola whatever crap. It's sooo tastless... I mean when will these boys grow up?!
And yes, more Jennifer Aniston movies, please.
The kind of movie Hollywood produce is a reflection of what kind of moviegoers there are... They are cheap budgetted and run on the mill kind of thing...
There are a couple of artsy films out, but they may not be your style.
"Bright Star" is about John Keats life and romance.
"Serephine" is about a French housekeeper who was a painter discovered by the same person who discovered Picasso.
They both look good.
I've been considering "500 Days of Summer." Supposed to be good.
However, that being said, I do think you're right, fiery. There's just way too much crap coming out of Hollywood.
I hate to praise myself, but I must say, Its looking pretty damned good...I'm just trying to cut out any phoniness and crap from it...
Good for you! An honest self-critique is extremely valuable. And so is confidence about what you're doing. Good luck with your projects, my man.
hollywood is overpaid. I prefer the indie films and the two art films sounds good. I usually end up watching older movies, the new ones don't hold my interest, but I did really love Hurt Locker.
Yeah and these boring films your girlfriend wants to go and watch and wants you to go with her, but then you have to make up an excuse like I have to wash my hair or something, that's hollywood for ya!
Yo Fiery! Nice to hear from you and glad the Screen Writing's going fine.
I've had Duplicity out for over a week now but haven't got round to watching it. Was gonna ask you to watch it with me but it won't float your boat. See Yah
I just got out of five years of having to watch every slapstick comedy to come out, the more stupid the better...I have to say, I really HATE slapstick and have rated these movies, complete with a nausea factor, in my reviews.
I can't agree more that Hollywood has certainly come out with a ton of crap. The vast majority of the big names that everyone seems to love (meaning mostly the younger actors) are pretty faces with little to no acting talent. Or, in some notable exceptions I can think of, they're people who HAD talent but happened to be good-looking and got thrown into two-dimensional roles that were intended only for eye candy. Anymore, some movies have absolutely no substance whatsoever and eye candy is all that's left. Sadly, this is what the general public wants...it's what sells.
That said, I do like the occasional chick flick...but they can't be predictable, and they have to have a story aside from two people chasing each other, playing hard to get, and eventually getting each other in the sack. My kind of chick flick is something more along the lines of Frida (starring Selma Hayek) or those wonderful doomed relationships like Sylvia (Gwyneth Paltrow)...talk about extremely depressing. Sick? Maybeso.
For the most part, I have to say that I've gotten to the point that there are some actors I'll watch no matter what...and most of the rest of the time I resign myself to having the opportunity to write one more bad review.
You've always had an eye for good movies, Wychic...
Why thank you *takes a bow*
I currently have a very long list of reviews waiting to be written that should be a pretty nice run-down of what NOT to watch, but also looking at some good ones...I now have only myself to blame for the bad ones, at long last I have sole control over the Netflix queue!
Have you seen the movie paranormal activty
if paranormal activity scares you its worth seeing i took my bf and he didnt know nothing about the movie, during the middle of the movie he looked at me with these scared eyes and asked me why i brought him to see this movie. hes been scared for the last 3 days. lol
I can understand what you mean, Fiery. Unfortunately, so long as people pay to see these movies, Hollywood will continue to crank them out...Notice how during any given week, they'll be the following at your local theater (I can't speak on your behalf--Nigeria--however):
A Romantic Comedy
A Family Movie (Animation/CGI)
A Drama
An Action Movie
A Suspense Thriller and/or
A Horror Movie
All of these movie cover all of the major demographics, so they'll all make some kind of money. Just as long as you buy your ticket, everyone gets paid...The hell with you enjoying the movie
Geez, dont even take me there...after being pressured by a million and one friends of mind, mostly females, I finally sat down to watch it like a couple of days ago...I puked, no friggin' kidding...what garbage...the entire movie you see a boy and a girl staring into each other's eyes awkwardly, and that's romantic, that's passion...Yurk!
After reading the book, i watched the movie. the move blows. it really sucked, i was extremely disappointed
I know a ton of girls are going crazy for this thing and at first I honestly couldn’t understand the cult that evolved for it.
Finally a girl at work let me read the book, being an avid reader, I hate to admit I thoroughly enjoyed the book, it was beautifully written.
It’s a wonderful romance novel, that’s all it is. The modern day Romeo and Juliet but Romeo is a vampire. lol
The only movie I watched and liked in this season is Inglorious Basterds... i enjoyed it and the rest is just boriiiiiing...
Just please don't ever do a Forrest Gump type piece of crap fiery.
Yes agreed with most, unfortunately someone is watching these movies which is why they keep getting produced. What I have learned is pre-teens and teens pretty much dominate the entertainment market (music and movies), so they are being catered to because they are the major consumers. The only thing that can explain Hanah Montana and Jonas Brothers success.....I'm gagging, but that's ok, I'm not 13.
Have to agree, Fiery - I was caught out with that the other night. She decided to watch a really crappy girly films - normally, I go on the internet, but she was in one of those 'spending quality time together' moods.
It was torture
Did you manage to get hold of the original 'Get Carter'?
one of the few good things about hollywood is hans zimmer, makes amazing film scores, good guy music too. my next hub is on his work.
Tell her that if she wants to spend some quality time together, all she has to do is pick a GOOD movie.
....and if you use that line, I do hope you have a comfortable couch for one available, some women get awfully sensitive .
I will also add my vote to the dislike of the Twilight movie. I normally wouldn't go near something like that, but my sister begged and begged until I watched it with her when I was in town waiting for my significant other to fly in. It was the first time I saw him in person, I was there the night before, so I wasn't sleeping anyway...and she talked me into watching both Twilight and Yes Man. I have to say that Yes Man wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be, but I stopped seeing teen romances as anything other than annoying when I was...about nine. She swears the books are much better, all I have to say is I sure hope so or the world is in even worse shape than I thought...not that I'd go out of my way to find out firsthand, unless I run out of anything else to read...and the library has a lot of them there book thingies.
I rarely go to movies anymore and the last one I saw was Star Trek. I thought they did an excellent job unlike most of the movies I have seen based on TV shows!
I Spy sucked.
Starsky and Hutch could have been a winner if it had been played as a serious effort.
Wild Wild West??? EEEEK!
I did also like Appaloosa based on the book by Robert B. Parker.
you should go see zombieland or rent a new movie that went straight to dvd but i loved called (trick r treat)
Bro, check out my new short story. It's right up your alley:
Revenge, Inc.
Let me know.
I would listen to Dohn. I know people and they say he is a man to be taken seriously.
Glad to see you back, C.J. Or maybe you were here all along and I just hit the wrong threads, but I take 2 days off from HP and here you are!
Been busy...popping in every now and then...nice to see you, too, Ghost...
I agree, Fiery. I am honestly not into the 'flash' of Hollywood filming. I am an avid Independent movie and foreign film addict! Few of my favorites are:
'XXY'. (2007) *Warning--mature content*
http://www.imdb.com/rg/VIDEO_PLAY/LINK/ … 383820825/
'Ben X' (2007).
http://www.imdb.com/rg/VIDEO_PLAY/LINK/ … 681353753/
'Special' (2006)
http://www.imdb.com/rg/VIDEO_PLAY/LINK/ … 011875865/
'Let the right one in' (2008)
http://www.imdb.com/rg/VIDEO_PLAY/LINK/ … 979960601/
Enjoy!

It seems like there are more and more remakes as time goes by. Most of the remakes don't do well. Should the makers stop remaking movies? Is it just me or do movies seem to resemble eachother more and more. It seems like origional stories are becoming more rare. There are...

I love to watch old black and white movies because these have wonderful acting and storylines. Yes, black and white movies may not have all of the special effects of today's films, but actually this is why I love them so. There were some very good actors back in the day, and I enjoy...
