What are you thoughts about what is going on in the Middle East right now?
Do you think the U.S. will be dragged into the conflict between the Palestinians and Israel? Should the U.S. get involved regardless of what happens? Hamas, terrorist organization?
leave the whole middle east alone for another 25 years and with the weapons available today, they will take care of their problems themselves.i'm so sick of all these religious nuts trying to make it look like some god is watching over them and they are the just and right ones.
I hope we won't get dragged into it, or rather "dragged". We all know that the US tends to be war-happy. It's none of our business to be over there and getting involved in their conflicts. Granted, if we were able to be peaceful mediators, that would be one thing. But we're like an angsty teenager with bottle rockets and duct tape. We just want things to go boom some times.
Personally, I am sad that what is happening is happening. I am fearful for the people over in Gaza and Israel. I am sad that they have to go through this terror. And on a more selfish note, I am sorry it is happening as I had to cancel the documentary we were going to be making over there next week.
It is horrible that after everything the world has been through, all the wars that have occurred over seemingly similar disputes, no one can just drop it and leave their neighbors alone. Live and let live. My heart goes out to the Middle East. There are so many innocents caught up between two political heads in battle, and it's not the innocents' fight, yet they're the ones paying.
I say America should stop its conquest of the modern world, withdraw its troops from all the bases around the world, reallocate it's spending to fix the mess they've put us into, and focus on national defense. They like to act like we're the Paladins of the world, when really, our leaders are ruthless murderers who constantly approve the killing of innocent civilians.
What's happening in the middle east is terrible, but our meddling with it for so long has only made it infinitely worse. Our government no longer has our best interests in mind however, and has made it painfully clear that they don't care what we think of the issue. The best you can do is talk about it, pass it around, and make sure that people are aware.

Are the popular protests in the Middle East genuine, or is there a "foreign" hand involved in directing what is happening, as it is frequently claimed.

Is Israel about to attack Iran? Many believe that a war in the Middle East is imminent.Netanyahu and Barak apparently believe that Israel has no choice to attack Iran's nuclear facilities. Former Mossad chief Meir Dagan disagrees. Here's a link to this week's NYTimes Sunday Magazine's front page...
