   Do you know of any songs about Cancer?
   
   I am in the process of composing a hub about songs that deal with the topic of Cancer. I already have a few, but I was wondering if anyone else is aware of any.

   Yes, actually I do.
   
   There is quite a good song called "Cancer" off of My Chemical Romance's Black Parade album.  Given that the entire album has a death theme about it and that the lyrics and instrumentals are excellent, the topic of cancer coming up in the collection was no surprise.

      Thanks. I am familiar with that song and it was one of the ones that I was considering for my list. I agree that considering the theme of the album, a song about cancer is no surprise.

   On Joey Ramone's first posthumous solo album, "Don't Worry About Me," there's a song called "I Got Knocked Down (But I'll Get Up)" that doesn't mention cancer directly but it was obviously written while he was battling his illness because it mentions "sittin' in a hospital bed... I want my life... this really sucks."

      Just read your hub about Cancer songs and was glad to see that Joey's song not only made the list, but you illustrated it with a pic of his tombstone. Nice work. R.I.P. Joey!

      Thanks for giving it a read! I definitely had to include Joey's song. Outside of the fact that I am a huge Joey and Ramones fan, there is the fact that it is one of the few songs where the individual directly deals with their own cancer.

   There's a country song called Sara Beth (I believe) that is about cancer. Very sad, I almost cry every time I hear it. It's sung by Rascal Flatts.

   There is a song called Christmas Shoes.  I can't remember whp sings it.  It is about a boy who asks a man for some money so he can buy his mother a special set of shoes for Christmas.  She is dying of Cancer and he wants her to have these shoes.

      Thanks for sharing those recommendations. I am vaguely familiar with the songs, but because I am not a country fan not overly familiar. Even though my list is just about complete, for the sake of being objective I will give them a re-listen.

   Cancer by My Chemical Romance.... This song makes me cry everytime I listen to it...Its so emotional and beautiful especially if cancer has affected your life the memories that come with this song touch me.
