I think it was Howard Gordon, one of the show's writer/producer that said the writing motto was "Not good. Never boring." I think that pretty much exemplifies how a lot of people feel about the show. Regardless of good or bad moments in it, It was usually an entertaining show. I'm a huge fan, so there are several things that draw me to it. There's an intensity to all the events that happen, an edge-of-your-seat thrill. Plus, good/great characters are developed through the show, and even with years of run-time, it still managed to surprise.
Jack Bauer as a CTU agent was cool. Even though I didnt like the ending after all the thing he had done. He come out a fugitive in 3 country (Russia, China and USA).
I did heard that they might bring the show back.
IT'S COMING BACK!!!!! One of the main things that draws me to the show is Jack Bauer. He is more than willing to comply with the laws of our country, but when the stakes take an unexpected and life threatening turn to millions of people, he knows those laws can't get in the way. He gets results based on his unconventional thinking. Terrorists don't care about the rules of a country. Therefore, Jack knows that protocol isn't going to cut it to take terrorists down.
The show also draws me in because of it's unpredictability. Yes, I know that at the end of a season somehow the country is saved, but there are characters that we grow attached to that die or something shocking does happen. (SPOILER ALERT HERE) Like when Jack shoots Curtis in Season 6, I was shocked that the situation went down like that and ended the way it did. Or at the end of season 5 when all is well when suddenly Jack gets kidnapped by the Chinese and we're left at a cliff hanger until the next season. And after 3-4 years of absence, it's coming back

I think it is time for Keifer Sutherland to produce a Season 9, but since Jack Bauer is getting older, his daughter Kim Bauer should take over as the strong willed CTU agent.Jack Bauer had to leave the country at the end of Season 8 and if there was a 9th season, I am sure he would not be back...
