What do you think of Ben Affleck being cast as Batman/Bruce Wayne?

It was just announced that Ben Affleck will be playing the Dark Knight in the new Superman & Batman movie.  What are your thoughts?

I saw this on Twitter earlier, and I thought it was a joke. I guess it's really true. I'm not a big fan of this happening. I just don't see Affleck being a solid Batman, but I'm open to the idea I guess. Would have been more satisfied with someone else though.

I'm taking a wait-and-see attitude. I may be one of the few who enjoyed his previous superhero turn in "Daredevil," which has a lot of stylistic similarities to "Batman," plus he was very good as George Reeves (who played Superman on TV in the 50s) in the underrated retro-mystery "Hollywoodland," so this is not uncharted territory for him.

I'm cautiously optimistic. If I can go from disliking Chris Evans in Fantastic Four to liking his performance in Captain America and Avengers then there is hope. Ben Affleck does have experience in portraying a Super Hero (Daredevil). I think he can definitely pull of Bruce Wayne, I'm just wondering about the alter ego.

One of his friends by the name of Kevin Smith, knows a lot about Batman. Comic Book, animation and live action versions. He's got that line of advice.

I'm mostly disappointed because of the direction this takes the "Man of Steel" universe. This means Batman must be older than Superman, and must have been operating for years before Superman reveals himself publicly. I like it better when the two characters are contemporaries, and Superman is the first super hero who inspires others to come forward. Also, I have to say I like the trend of putting little-known actors into these roles so you can sit back and believe you are watching the character instead of constantly being aware that Ben Affleck is on the screen.
