   I don't know if it's my "favorite" but I recently saw a Norwegian horror film called "Dead Snow" that was an absolute hoot, if you like that sort of thing...

      FatFreddysCat - have not seen that one but will definitely put it on my List of films to see.  Fortunately I am able to order them and they are delivered to my home a few days later.  Thanks for the thumbs up on this one.

      Have fun, sallybea - but be warned, it is an *extremely* gory movie... It was the bloodiest thing I've seen in a long time.

   I have a few...Martyrs, The Intouchables, and Au Revoir Les Enfants (all French), and Sidewalls (Argentinian) are all really good in my opinion. There are probably a few other I'm overlooking right now.

      I will add one of the french ones I loved My Mother's Castle (French: Le Château de ma mère).  I saw the second two you mention, great films, have not seen Sidewalls, another one for my list.

   I lived in Hong Kong for six years and love foreign (particularly Chinese) films. My favourite is Red Cliff a two part epic about the three kingdoms period in Chinese history.

      Robbie C Wilson - I have watched very few Chinese Films - always nice though to have someone recommend one which they have enjoyed.  It seems I have a growing list of new films to explore.  Thank you very much for your response.

      Let me know if you like it, the three Kingdom period of Chinese history is extremely popular in Chinese films. I can recommend more Chinese movies if you like Red Cliffs.

   Not an easy question, I have a lot of foreign movie favourites:
   French: Delicatessen, Amelie, Manon des Sources, Diva
   Italian: Il Postino, Life is Beautiful
   Chinese: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon; Hero
   Spanish: Pan's Labyrinth, All About My Mother
   
   and that's just for starters...
