As many of you know, I've always said there's been no financial precedent that proves movies can make just much if not more money on VOD and streaming than they would being released in theaters; hence why theaters would never be obsolete. However, it seems I was dead wrong, as "Trolls: World Tour' debut last weekend, and not only was it a hit, but it earned an impressive 90 million dollars it's first weekend on VOD. This is unprecedented, as no movie has ever earned this much before debuting on steaming or VOD.
Well say what you want about me, but I've always been a big enough man to admit when I'm wrong, as it seems "Trolls 2: World Tour" proved it can be done based on it's first weekend debut alone. Keep in mind, 90 million dollars is exactly what high budget films like "Mulan" were expected to make this year opening weekend if it had not been for the current pandemic.
Well I apologize to all of you that I criticized and doubted that kept saying theaters would be obsolete and etc. Well after seeing the numbers for "Trolls 2", I'm literally proven wrong, and as I said before if it becomes profitable, then I think this could be a game changer here.
