I just read recently that Zack Snyder is officially confirmed to be the next director of superman. All I can say is...WOW. I'm so stoked about this movie now because first, they had a genius like Christopher Nolan producing it, and the writers, from Batman Begins and Dark Knight, working on this new Superman reboot. Now, Zack Snyder is directing this? All I can say is, I can't wait for this movie now, as this sounds like a great combination for success. In fact, I'm so happy that I could dance right now. Superman is surely going to be a hit with these guys collaborating on it. Unlike that poorly written "Superman Returns" bit.
is that a serious question? Or are you just trying to be funny?
oh sorry. it's hard to tell if you were serious or being sarcastic when you said that. the last time i assumed a guy was serious, i ended up looking like a fool, when he told me he was being sarcastic about his statement. Therefore, it's hard to tell online. sorry.
to answer your question though, he's basically the same guy who directed films such as "300", "Watchmen", and "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole", to name a few. he's usually known for his flashy cinematic scenes incorporating slow motion a lot, in his films. Sure, his stories will often border line between either being great or they'll just be plain mediocre, but I'm sure with Nolan guiding him, the story will still be good.
do you think tom welling of smallville will play superman, i think he's perfect for the part, and i think the women who plays lois lane should play that part as well, they look the part and they already play it, makes people believe that they are them
maybe. im not ruling out anyone at this point. i just doubt Brandon Routh is going to return as supes, due to the fact that they want this to be a reboot and the last movie sucked. lol. however, it's possible at this point. plus, the rumor around wb they're looking for an actor close to 35 to 40 to play superman in the new movie, and tom welling will be around 35 when the series ends after this season. therefore, you never know.
How about Eddie Murphy....now that would be weird! lol!
lol. nah, i don't think nolan would ever allow it. although that would be pretty funny. lol
It would be hilarious if he did the villain too and a few of the characters also like Jimmy Olsen and the Daily Planet editor too and they all had a bad wind problem, could be a whole new Superman mythology created and everything lol!
lol. i wouldn't mind seeing eddie murphy be perry white, superman's boss at the daily planet. that would be funny to see eddie put on his fast talking jive like he does in some of his comedies, while clark plays the bumbling nerd being harassed by him. lol. that would be funny.
i know...how about jim caviziel or brendan frasier. i bet either one of them would make an awesome superman.\
although more than likely they'll go with an unknown. i doubt seriously they'll cast tom welling or brandon routh for the part, as Nolan even said that this film will have it's own stand alone continuity away from the tv series, "Smallville." Plus, it's a reboot, so I doubt Brandon Routh would reprise the role, as they wouldn't want people to think the next film is some kind of sequel to the box office bomb to "Superman Returns."
I'm tired of reboots. I think there needs to be plot changes like brainiac or darkside in the series.
It'll really be something to see with Snyder directing it , I'm curious how the tone will be with a new movie.
I for one would love to see Jim Cavizel as superman , not so much Brendan Frazier.
you know who else would make a totally awesome superman? I think guy pearce, from memento, would be awesome in that role.
I would love it if Christian Bale was Superman!!!
It would be fantastic because he is a class actor and would suit the role perfectly. Terminator and Batman were two amazing films probably just because he had the lead role.
i'd have to disagree with you there. although bale would make a great superman, i just don't think it would be right. don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those ex comic fans that believe that every actor should only be allowed to play one superhero, as that would be ridiculous. however, i do believe that since batman and superman are both within the same comic book universe, then I still have hopes that there will be a justice league movie involving both of those characters. which is why I wouldn't want to see bale as superman, as it would only further eliminate the possibility of a justice league movie. not that I believe wb would ever go through with it, as they've been pretty adamant as saying they're not going to copy marvel's avenger's route. However, one can always still dream.
i just hope that the rumors about general zod being the villain aren't true, as i want to see a different villain damn it!
Yeah I'm definitely getting tired of old villains. If I see Luther again in another superman film . . . .
i agree with that too. Lex Luthor is a great bad guy, but he's over exposed and used to often when it comes to superman. if he's even in the movie, I hope he's just a supporting character or a guy scheming things behind the scenes, instead of being the main baddie again. that would just suck.
Think about that for a moment. Snyder, Nolan and Superhero film! Who better to do this than the guy who directed Watchmen (Snyder) and the guy who directed Batman (Nolan)? Pure genius! The news clips are on the tail end of my Sucker Punch hub, the next Snyder film, if anyone is interested. Or just Google it. Whatever! Happy Days! I love the Movies!
I wonder if it will have a little of the feel that Watchmen did. If so, the fight scenes should at least be good. I liked the tone of Watchmen, but I'm sure that Snyder's Superman will still be a lot lighter.
Oh, wait, Superman Returns was real?? Thought it was a bad dream.
No way! It wasn't a nightmare? Good god I'm having flashbacks, Superman Returns was just a waste of cellulite and celluloid all in one!
i know right! i still can't believe that there are some fans out there clamoring for Brandon Routh to return. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't his fault the movie was so bad. But lets face it, if they recast him, the average movie goer is going to think that the next superman movie is a sequel to "Superman Returns"; no matter how you spin it.
Jean Claude Van Damme as Superman would be cool too (?) couldn't you imagine him doing the splits on top of two nuclear missiles whilst he grunts "Nooooooo god damn you!"
I'd like to see Jon Hamm as Superman, although Brandon Routh would be okay too. (The failures of Superman Returns were not Routh's fault.) For a villain, let's have Denzel Washington as Lex Luthor, and Will Smith as Brainiac. THAT would be a cool movie.
Well I agree that it wasn't Brandon's fault for why SR wasn't great, as people expected it to be. However, I doubt seriously he'll be even considered to come back. Lets face it, the average movie goer isn't that smart, as "Jackass 3-D" is clear proof of that. Therefore, if you bring back Brandon Routh, the average movie watcher will automatically assume it's a sequel to SR. Even if you play it off as a reboot which is what this next movie is, people will still believe what they want. therefore, I doubt seriously Routh is coming back at all.
As far as your other suggestions for luthor and brainiac, i don't want to sound like a racist here, as I'm not. I'm part native american, half chinese, and part hispanic by the way, so you can't call me a racist for saying this. But you do know Lex is white, right? That's why I don't think any of those actors should be played by them. Although Brainiac might be okay, as he's an alien, so i can see where your coming from. As for Lex, I would probably go for someone like Daniel Day Lewis, Christoph Waltz or John Malkovich. Either one of those guys would make for an awesome lex luthor if you ask me.
edit: although you are right about jon hamm. he would make an awesome superman too.
charlie sheen lol, jim cavisal as superman wtf come on. I cant think of anyone to play superman. They could make him gay that would be different. They should not make another ever again that would be best.

As some of you may know, I wrote a hub on this topic over a year ago. For years, the Seigel family has been fighting DC/WB in the courts regarding the copyright issues of the famous Superman character. You see since 1998, the heirs claim they didn't receive any of the rightful royalties...

Zack Snyder made the films "Dawn of the Dead", "300" and "Watchmen". He has proven he is an original film maker. He is following a cast of film makers like Sam Raimi, Robert Rodriguez, Steven Soderberg, Spielberg, and others. Is he fit to be called the next Big...

I have started a series of hubs on Superman called "How to Revive the Character". I am aware of the fact that, at the current time, the destiny of the Superman is in limbo as there seems to be a lack of interest in the character as a fictional superhero.I want to know what your thoughts...

In recent news, Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. announced that Henry Cavill is set to star as the new man of steel in the upcoming superman reboot of 2012. Sorry, Tom Welling and Brandon Routh fans that were always clamoring over which one of them deserved to take on the role in the upcoming...

Is a crossover between DC and Marvel movies inevitable? The rampaging success of super hero movies continues with Iron Man 3 and Man of Steel on deck. Given how things have gone and looking ahead, is it possible DC and Marvel may do a movie crossover?
