As a retired librarian, Yvonne finally has time to read! She enjoys sharing some of her favorite books and media with friends.

Tribute, Northern Lights and High Noon Movies based on Nora Roberts' Novels

Nora Roberts is a prolific author of romantic mystery and suspense novels. She also writes novels in the science fiction and paranormal genre, which I enjoy immensely.

The Lifetime Network has made some of Nora Roberts novels into movies which are available on DVD. Some of the Nora Roberts movies that I enjoyed are Tribute, Northern Lights and High Noon, although there are several more out now and there maybe more in the works for the future.

Tribute

Tribute Synopsis

This suspense stars Brittany Murphy, Diana Scarwid, Jason Lewis and Tippi Hedren. Cilla, a former child star turned house renovator, buys and moves into her famous grandmother's farmhouse in Virginia. As the renovation proceeds, she begins to have dark nightmares about her grandmother's death (supposedly of an overdose) 30 years before. Her neighbor, Ford, both comforts and protects her when the dark dreams turn into real danger.

Tribute Movie on DVD

I enjoyed both the book and movie version of Tribute. The strong female character and handsome but a little geeky graphic novelist was a great combination.

Nora Roberts Tribute Books - and other formats

If you are a Nora Robert suspense fan, then you should also read the book that the movie was based on. There are also audio versions which are great for long trips in the car.

Actress Brittany Murphy

Actress Brittany Murphy died in December, 2009, at the age of 32. She starred in films, including: Clueless (1995); Girl, Interrupted (1999); Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999); and Don't Say a Word (2001). Brittany Murphy died tragically just as her career was taking off again. She starred in Tribute shortly before her death.

Of the three, Northern Lights was my favorite. There's just something about Alaska that has always thrilled me.

When it warms up in Alaska the wildlife gets busy. These hummingbirds are so cool.

High Noon

Nora Roberts' High Noon Synopsis

Nora Roberts' High Noon is a suspense starring Cybill Shepherd, Emilie de Ravin and Ivan Sergei. Expert hostage negotiator Lieutenant Phoebe McNamara is thrust into a fight for her life when she begins getting threatening messages from a deranged killer, who is often heard whistling the theme song to High Noon. As if dealing with an agoraphobic mother and raising a young daughter isn't hard enough. At a hostage negotiation, she meets bar owner, Duncan Swift, who becomes a part of her complicated life.

Gary Cooper

The killer in Nora Roberts' High Noon is fixated on Gary Cooper's character in the original version. I found it interesting to go back and watch the old movie co-starring Grace Kelly again.

My old company was in the same building as Harlequin's head office. I went up in the same elevator as Nora Roberts one day. She was stunning in person, had very interesting eyes, and was more petite than I'd though she'd be. We caught each others' eyes (I had a similar coat to one of the people at Harlequin so perhaps she thought I was that person). I didn't want to disturb her so we simply nodded and up to our respective floors we went. Great page.

@anonymous: I don't think so, but I'd like to see those made into a movie, too. So far, I think there are only 8, but maybe Lifetime network will do more this year.

I have seen all the Nora Roberts movies, but they never seem to follow the books very well. I did like the first four movies, where Nora would appear somewhere in the movie. She is an excellent author.
