The Wall from Roger Waters
Roger Waters, songwriter, guitar musician, and general Pink Floyd main mouth piece with“The Wall”, we all know about it and heard of this music for over 25 years. Depending on your age this multi- musical mastery is known around the world. What one album can musically stay alive for over 20 some odd years? There is only one exception and that would be the Rolling Stones in my research. The Stones just scratched the surface when you try to equate,” The Wall”, soundtrack and live stage shows this production has put on. Pink Floyd was the band that developed The Wall soundtrack and the writer, Roger Waters has put life back into this living live show again. Has this show ever died, no? The Wall is a living story of how we put up barriers against ourselves and humanity in one fashion or another. This was explained by Roger Waters in an interview in 2009 with 60 minutes television show. The original plot to the story is about Roger’s father who was killed in WWII and his grandfather in WWI. The story goes on to tell of how a little boy misses his father and the nightmares that went along without having his father. Roger Waters is about 74 years old if I read correctly now. He looks good and has a wife that looks really nice and has been an asset to him on the road.
Yes, on the road again promoting a 25 year old legend story of The Wall It is almost to incredible to believe that one man can play all the shows lined up for this year in 2013. Roger Waters, not only had live shows in 2012 and 2011. He has stamina and has not missed a note. With state of the art sound systems and a light show you will never forget. His mere presence of an artist is a true phenomenon to our lives. He is a pleasant man, Mr. Waters. He also composes Opera in Europe with the best singers of the world. Roger was being interviewed and he stated that the adrenaline rush he gets from playing the shows of Pink Floyd is what keeps him going and very well. “We play one show, it last four hours then we come down from the adrenaline rush and sleep. The next morning we are back on a private aircraft and start the day all over again in another city.

Now this is a lot of dates to play in arenas mostly in Europe for his schedule this year in 2013. Now imagine every other night playing for four hours the same music over and over for over 25 years times the multiple venues Roger has done. This is a commitment if ever known for music or any other theatrical venue to the world has seen. In going to his website you can learn so much about this man, and his YouTube.com interviews are very interesting to say the least. On his site he explains the one hundred and seventy nine members that help make the concerts happen live. He goes on to naming each of them in alphabetical order. He is a proud man and rightfully so.
We never tire from The Wall it is music that just keeps going and going. No one hit wonder here. There is an addiction pattern that is really intimidating to the music producers of the world and to musicians. How does one top this ongoing crusade of music from Roger Waters? What is in the recipe for his success that makes his music stand out always? He has the secret and is keeping the wall up so no one can have the ingredients to his success, one may say.
I don’t mention too much of Pink Floyd, and the reason for this is Roger wrote all the songs in Pink Floyd and has tried to implement the correct sound by using the best musicians in the world to imitate the guitar licks of David Gilmore. Mr. Gilmore is a story in himself. This article focuses on the genius of one man and one album, and so many years of radio play. Let us see how long this will last; I don’t see it dying off anytime soon. I wish them the best in their efforts to sell out stadiums across the world. We all have one thing in common as Mr. Roger Waters have said, “As Long as there are walls between people this music will live on”. The walls of life are not coming down and more are being built up against each other.
