Seven Things To Do While in Quarantine!
Learn to cook!
My favorite dish that I have made during quarantine is a quiche! I will list the steps to making a quiche below:
a. Get a 9-inch pie crust
b. Fill the bottom half with one layers of Swiss cheese
c. Make a mix of three eggs, one cup of half and half, cinnamon, nutmeg, a pinch of salt and pepper (in a different bowl)
d. Beat the mix made previously until all the ingredients appear as one mixture
e. Pour the mix on top of the Swiss cheese that is on the pie crust and put another layer of Swiss cheese on top of the mixture
f. Make sure the oven is at 375 degrees and let the quiche bake for 40 minutes
Have a spa day!
Give yourself a day to treat yourself! You can take a nice hot bath (I would recommend using bath bombs), paint your nails, do a face mask (the face masks I use are from a brand called Freeman), light some candles, treat your hair, and listen to music that relaxes you and sets your mind at peace.
Start doing arts and crafts!
Arts and crafts are fun regardless of your artistic abilities. Personally, I am not an artist but I enjoy painting with my sister. We looked up simple paintings online and we decided to paint sunsets. Doing this with a family member is especially fun because it is a bonding experience. I, also, tie-dyed a shirt for my dog. I would recommend a color scheme when you do this so that the colors do not clash. For example, the shirt I made with my dog is pink and red on top of a white shirt.
Start a blog!
That is exactly what I am doing right now! It is a good way to express your thoughts and beliefs. Writing allows individuals to have an outlet to show whatever runs through their mind. I like to keep myself busy as well and writing a blog allows me to do that.
Listen to some new music!
I have always listened to the same genre of music for years to come so I recently decided to expand. I have come onto this new fascination with old school R&B. Some artists that I recommend are Tamia, SWV, Mary J. Blige, Lauryn Hill, TLC, and New Edition.
Take some time to self-reflect!
Look at the major events in your life that happened to you and how you dealt with them. Try to come up with new ways to deal with your problems. Speaking on a more personal note, I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's disease in 2019. It took at huge toll on me. I went from an Honor Roll student to a student who cannot focus, is constantly tired and has no motivation in general. It stayed this way until very recently where I told myself that I need to stop using this as an excuse and work even harder. It is not easy at all but not only is this a project you can start on during quarantine but it is something you can always do.
Start a new television show!
I know everybody loves this! Instead of watching something within the same category of what you always watch, try branching out. For example my old go-to shows were 'The Office' and 'Friends' but now I watch 'Scandal' and 'How to Get Away With Murder'
