Top Moe Anime List

Updated on June 17, 2015

Moe Anime Definition and Meaning

A popular subgenre of anime is the "moeblob anime" or "moe anime." Moe is a Japanese slang word that describes something drawn in an anime or manga style that is very cute and has become a widely known and understood word to most Japanese people.

The word originally referred to a strong interest in a particular type or style of character in video games, anime or manga. To be moe, a character can be eager or perky, not overly independent, and call forth a desire in the viewer to protect and nurture them.

The recommended titles are listed below in no particular order, so just because a title is listed first or last won't mean it's the best/worst.

You can even grab the whole thing as an RSS feed or a widget for your blog. Most popular, sad anime will usually be located at the top of the rankings list. This isn't just my opinion. Those in the know have consistently rated these as the top cute anime available right now.

Denpa Onna was pretty awesome. My favorite part was when Yashiro brought down the meteor. I thought this anime pretty much established that there were no aliens or mystery, but then episode 13 brought it all back again.
