Celebrating Mother's Day
“Happy Mother’s Day, Mom!” I’m sure, these words will be the sweetest greeting that my mother will treasure, coupled with kisses and some treats for her special day.
I will not be what I am now if not for her dedication to nurture and teach me how to become a valuable man. Of course, I’m not overlooking the fact that the father will always be a part of parenting but mothers will always be witnesses of the ‘firsts’ experiences of their children.
I learned my ABCs because of my mother. She guided me on how to write my complete name. Financially and emotionally, my mother always give her best. Although, she only finished her elementary grades, it didn’t deter her to give her best in the course of life of a woman: motherhood.
This is not an ordinary hub for me. Words are not enough to describe her accomplishments as mother of ten. When my father told her that we should stop studying, she was the one who pursued our desires to finish our studies until college. She believes that “education is the greatest wealth that my children could have in life.”
When she was widowed at the age of 60 in 1998, she continue to support us while doing her duty as local official in our barangay council. She already have a set of grandsons and granddaughters to take care of. She said that the “circle of life” is on its full turn in her existence as a daughter, sister, mother and now as grandmother.
Precious Mothers of Travel Man
In my existence as a son to my mother, other influences of my personality as a person who always believes in righteousness are these wonderful mothers that I’m sure, also influenced your individuality.
Mother Mary - Without her acceptance to be the ‘mother’ of the Son of God, this world will never hear the words of the Lord through Jesus Christ.
Mother Teresa - She left all her riches in order to help the poor, especially in India.
Female Presidents of Israel (Golda Meir), UK (Margaret Thatcher), Benassir Bhutto (Pakistan), Corazon Aquino (Philippines), Soo Ang Kyu Si (Myanmar) are some of the mothers that I admire.
There are many successful mothers who triumphed in their chosen fields or career. I also salute those “mothers in HubPages” who juggle their time in office, school, home and HP.
Unwed Mothers and Reluctant Mothers
When Travel Man was on the radio, many unwed mothers seek help for their children’s medical assistance. In turn, we turn them to respective government agencies that can give free medication to their ailing children.
There are many reluctant mothers who tried child abortion. Teenage girls who got pregnant by their boyfriends often resort to this kind of dangerous method in order to hide their mistakes.
I salute those unwed mothers as well as teenage mothers who brought their children in this world, caring and nurturing them. They don’t mind what people say about them. All they care about is their newfound lifetime career as mothers.
Travel Man asked some questions.
- What will happen to the world if there are no women?
- Do you believe that women outdo the men these days in terms of education and career?
- Is the woman really the source of temptation?
Better contemplate on these questions before answering it. I hope this hub did justice as tribute to the roles of our mothers in this world. HAPPY MOTHERS' DAY!!!
