Fun Family Dinners: Have A Fun Family Meal Together
Are you finding it increasingly difficult to sit down to a meal with your family? Studies have shown that children who are involved with a family meal at least twice per week perform much better in tests at school and are more well-rounded individuals.
If you are busy working all the time, make family dinner a top priority at least once a week. There are all sorts of ways to incorporate fun times with meals, and here are just a few to get you started.
Plan a Themed Dinner Party
One of the best ways to make your family dinner fun is to plan a themed dinner. There are endless ideas you could come up with, including:
- Hawaiian Luau
- Mexican Fiesta
- Chinese
- Southern-Style
- Indoor Picnic
Have Dinner On The Town
If you are so busy that you don’t have time to cook, don’t let that stop you from planning regular dinners together with your family. Plan a special day once a week and take your entire family to a nice restaurant.
Kids’ Choice Night
Every now and then let your children choose how they’d like to have the family dinner. Kids are often the most creative and can come up with some pretty imaginative and simple ideas for family dinner. If you don’t want things to get too far out of control, set a few ground rules then let your kids have at planning dinner.
I know it isn’t easy to get the entire family together for dinner. But when you set a firm date and plan around that date, it will become more and more easier for everyone in your family to cooperate and participate in your family dinners. While it could take a few weeks—or months, even—to get everyone on board, once you have a few family dinners together, everyone will enjoy them and start looking forward to them.
